I'm pretty active on twitter with my Steelers talk, it's a great way to talk to media members, and in some cases like this, players. (Follow me @steel_by_design)

I was talking with one of the guys from Behind the Steel Curtain about Jonathan Dwyer, and I'm not sure how he even saw it because I didn't mention his twitter handle or anything, but...

THAT is pretty cool! I like the fact that Dwyer didn't get defensive about the comments but simply said that he'd be in great shape coming in. Unlike a certain fat and lazy LB currently on the roster who got offended by the assertion that he needs to be training with Tom Shaw.

Dwyer definitely has the right attitude and good to see he still has that determination, something he showed coming into last season, just has to keep working at it.

Yeah I thought it was a good response too. I actually got into a back and forth with Marcus Gilbert last season and he came off as pretty arrogant.

You better watch Gilbert dude! He'll take your knee out even if you're NOT mean to him!

Gilbert was posted a photo that said something like "I wear Gucci and Louis Vutton at the same time" with a pic of some shoes and jean with labels on them.

Me, being a smartass, and not expecting a response retweeted it and said "I wonder why so many athletes go bankrupt as soon as they retire?"

To which Gilbert responded "It's called being able to afford it"

What a reject! Jack Lambert would say "I wear Levi's and Fruit of the Loom at the same time".

Pretty cool! I do the same thing as well. I had a twitter conversation with Pouncey during the season, and also Mike Adams when they were in training camp. Always nice when they reply to someone.

Ever had a conversation with Mendy on there? I'm sure that could get REAL interesting! HEY! You don't think it was YOU GUYS that Mendy was complaining about on Twitter this year do you??? LOL.

I actually followed Mendenhall for a while, and made a post on the old boards that he needed to chill out on twitter. He had some tweets that were sort of vulgar and misogynistic...

Everyone told me I was overreacting and he can say whatever he wants... Then like 2 days later he posted all the Bin Laden stuff.

I need to get on Twitter!! That is completely cool and I am pleasantly surprised by Dwyer's mature response.

Yeah he's just SOOO much deeper and more intellectual than all of us simpletons that think people who plot to fly airplanes in to buildings full of innocent people are kinda bad. Does he still have his Twitter btw?

No I don't follow mendenhall. He deleted his twitter for a while after his rant about Bin Laden and he got it back like a year later. But I never followed him.

I've added a profile field for Twitter handles. Go to your settings, and edit your profile. At the bottom of the page, you can add your Twitter handle, and it will display under your username if you wish. :good:

Fat and Lazy? That's a bit harsh don't you think? Shaw should have never called Woodley out in the Media plain and simple If Shaw's intentions truly were to help he could have contacted him personly. What shaw did was a total Dick move. Woodley is working out with Clark in Arizonia right now so cut him some slack.

Dwyer has 2 issues. 1. He is overweight. 2. He isn't cardiovascularly fit.

He needs to train hard with Shaw or wherever he is at and then go home and do Insanity every night. That is only 60 days and I bet the kid would be in MUCH better shape. That program does work if you push yourself.

I thought about starting a new thread ,but I'll just put it here. The question is did Dwyer kind of get bigger on purpose to be able to be more effective running behind our OL and their blocking style? He was a lot thinner and more explosive in college. Now that it looks like we are going to a zone-blocking scheme is he trying and will he be able to get back down to where he was ,to take full advantage of his situation. What came first the chicken or the egg? Or did he eat them both?

If Dwyer can get back to his college playing weight, I think he'd be very solid in our (rumored) new zone blocking scheme. If you go back to his college tape, he looked like the quick, decisive one cut runner that excels in a ZBS. Let's hope he can do it.

I think he can be more than solid . I think he could be the answer for us at RB.

Early last season I would have been tempted to agree with you. Though that was very quickly forgetting that he had showed up out of shape the previous few seasons. Last season, he showed up in shape, and looked really, really promising at the start. Then it just faded. I think he could well build on that, but we would still need a complimentary back for him to spar with.
