Wilson was drafted for the future, third round rookie receivers rarely contribute much in year 1. Hopefully he is a contributor but I’m not expecting much this year and the team clearly isn’t either given that they pursued Aiyuk all offseason. We will see what they do now

Exactly. Also why I never bought into the who “wide receiver factory’ thing. We never had any more top Wr receivers than any other team with a top QB. Actually most of our WR picks washed out.

 

I had to think about that, but you're probably right, at least in regards to the last 20 years. The Steelers only had 2 "top" WR's during the entire Big Ben era in Hines Ward and Antonio Brown. Some of their WR's during those years were good, but not great. A few bums along the way too

 

Diontae had over 800 yards last year with trash QBs, you're a fool if you don't think he could the same with Wilson at QB.

There's a huge difference in being from say, San Diego or Newport Beach and LA or the bay area!

 

DJ, Emmanuel Sanders, and Mike Wallace were good to very good 2nd tier WR's, but I would never mention them in the same breath as Hines Ward and Antonio Brown. So there is some truth in what Glenn is saying, at least during the Ben era. They might miss DJ this year, but I don't think he was worth what they were paying him, and he was a cancer in the locker room
