I liked Cowher a lot, but your stats don’t tell the whole story. If they were top 10 in both offense and defense in 2006, which I’ll take your word on, then why did they go 8-8 that year and become the first Super Bowl winning team to miss the playoffs the next year.

This is the problem with statistics. They can be manipulated or taken out of context. The team may have been top 10 on both sides of the ball, but that was a bad season.

Because Ben had to go and be a fool.

My point about the top 10 on both sides of the ball is that the talent was there. I mean seriously, look what was already there before Tomlin got on the plane. It took all of that being there for him to win. Compare 2007-2011 vs 2011-present in the playoffs. That's all you need to see.

Imagine if all of that wasn't there. Do people honestly think Tomlin could have taken medicore talent, make the changes needed scheme and personnel wise and win a sb? Look at his record since 2011 and the talent he was given during that time. Can you honestly argue that the two match up?

I look at KC and say that should have been us. We should have won at least one sb especially between 2014-2018. Do you disagree?

Being top 10 on both sides of the ball obviously didn’t translate to a successful season or post-season. Your response is that it was Ben’s fault, which I would agree.

Based on the above, and using your logic, it would then be possible that the lack of success in any given season might be an issue with the star QB?

Go rewatch the Jaguars and Browns playoff games and tell me that Ben had a HOF type game in either of those instances.

I am not excusing Tomlin for our lack of success, but it is not solely his fault.

I do think we should have won another one or two, including the one we lost to Green Bay.

Andy Reid was run out of Philadelphia and is now worshipped as a guru at Kansas City. How do you explain what happened in his tenure at Philly?

He's the biggest reason. Look at how his postseason success dropped when Cowher's core started to leave. Cowher set this man up for success. My point is that if Tomlin is so great and such a hof coach, he should have won even MORE post 2011 especially when you led the league in pro bowl appearances for 10 years. You had a top 10 offense 4 years in a row. You had Ben in his BEST years. You had the best Steelers wr and imo the best Steelers rb of all time .

I was actually going to suggest a reincarnated Goldburgh. He’s got that same kind of tenacity and firey responses.

Andy Reid was always a great hc imo. He drafted better in KC. He went to, what, 5 straight nfc Champiosnhip games with a qb who ran the option in college?

People just look at the sb win with Cowher's core and the "non-losing season" hype and consider him great just off that. Why is he not held to the same standard as an Andy Reid?

Hell I'd argue that Jimmy Johnson set up Barry Switzer for his sb run.

I said in my opinion. The rb position is up for debate, but qb and wr are not. Don't like it, tough **** .

I'd argue you don't know ball, Switzer teams were losing too much and he had no discipline with Dallas.

I have been critical of Tomlin in the past but the comparison with Switzer has always been lazy and wrong...That comparison has been dead since the 2010 season when Tomlin was in the super bowl for the 2nd time in his 4th season despite Ben being suspended in the first 4 game....The cowboys were 6-10 in Switzer's 4th season
