Was listening to radio today and the discussion was about the UNLV QB quitting, sitting out and preserving his last year for another shot at NIL deal. He claims the U promised 100 grand, but he never got it. This seems to have happened at other places and even another withdrawl this week. Coach's cannot talk money to the players, 'the collective' can make offers, but nothing is signed on paper, how freaking ridicules this has become.

The NCAA has little to no jurisdiction, they talked about a players union and a CBA, fine but how do you really manage that with the amount of players per team, the scholarships only valid year to year, and players entering the portal whenever they want. The NCAA put a 'salary cap' of 23 million on U's for all athletes in their departments, title 9 will come into play somewhere along the line, and the NIL vs CBA will still have to come under certain management and restrictions for this to work. I think ultimately the SEC, Big 10 and possibly Big 12 will break away find an agreement to form their own Mini NFL structure, the traditions that we have known, while already damaged, might truly disappear forever.

I knew this would happen. My Brother, and I talked about this when it started. We both said they would step back, and let it go crazy, and let everything bad that could happen happen. Then they will swoop in , and make changes that should have been from the beginning....., but now people won't complain about it....after all the craziness.

A guy mentioned the kid who guit UNLV has little to no chance of getting to the NFL, but could get 500 grand to 1.5 milllion going forward in the protal. I don't blame him, but the whole fiasco can get unhinged very quickly. Coach's trying to recruit without talking true cash, unregulated 'co-ops' making deals with just word of mouth? You have a handful of schools with big money donors, others with little to no cash, now even HIgh School students being recruited to out of state HS's, some students in the 8th grade getting attention, WTF could go wrong. A guy has a good year but his team does not make it to the expanded p/o, quits before his school goes to a bowl game to avoid injury. The list goes on, but the cluster F diminishes any real joy for me going forward. St Boneventure, a small school in NY just hired a guy to act as NIL coordinator, mostly for BB, but you get the drift. I suppose in time it will get worked out, but I was watching some old college games on YT, great games from the 60's through the 90's, the names, guys who were good college players, then the remembrances from their pro years. Sounding like the old fart I am, but its just hard to really get enthused any more.

With the number of players going down, it will essentially prevent walk-ons. Another college football tradition that is now nostalgia.

Nick Saban said it was a bad idea that would be bad for college football, without actually coming out and saying it. Then he retired.

Good amount of rain and winds but nothing as bad as western NC and GA. They got hammered and with all those trees in the mountains, it is a mess.

I am not exactly sure what the President of the NCAA is asking Congress to do? All schools are not created equal, so I don't know if Congress could put a limit on the NIL deals that are being offered to Athletes.

Not a clue if there is a way for the NCAA to use Title 9 to balance NIL money between men's and women's sports.
