What are you hearing the Panthers want for Kirk?

His actual cap cost would be reasonable at around $12 million for the rest of 2024 and $20 million for 2025 if the Steelers pay his $5 million roster bonus.

If you want a 31 year old receiver Michael Thomas is still a free agent.

I’m guessing that the Panthers would take anything for Kirk…

My gut instinct is that Thomas is washed up, but if the front office thinks he has something left in the tank, I’d take a chance on Thomas before Dhop or Kirk. Thomas won’t cost anything in the way of trade or draft capital.

Aiyuk led the 49ers in receiving yardage last season on a team that went to the Super Bowl, what has Kirk done?

For a player of his caliber, yeah that is fair compensation. Him being on a 44 million dollar cap hit the next two seasons? Not ideal. Not to mention he will be 33 and 34 during those seasons... idk. I don't think Adams is our best target.

I'd rather look at Tee Higgins, Chris Godwin, or even Amari Cooper/Hollywood Brown in the offseason for a more "long term" answer at WR2 and just go after a one year rental WR2 for this year. Just my opinion though.

3 games coming off skipping the entirety of camp is hardly something to panic about regarding Aiyuk. He's a really good player, and someone I would have been fine trading for.

We have to do something though. If this team is serious about winning postseason games, having Pickens and Muth as the only real "above the line" receiving threats just isn't going to cut it. Not trading for a WR will be a signal that we don't feel like this team is ready to take that step yet.

I don't see the Browns or Bengals helping out the Steelers by trading a major player to them.

That last line is the offseason. I want us to get a 1 year rental at WR in 2024 and then target one of the guys mentioned at the bottom in 2025 FA period.

I don't hear much of anything from the Panthers. So I can't really say anything that isn't obvious.
Michael Thomas is a guy I've tossed out there a couple times - he has to be 100% healthy and I'm not sure he is.
He was at a workout that I was at not real long ago and he still has a catch radius that is crazy good.
But I just can't say he is all healed up.. I think the Steelers brass took a look at him, I err to their judgement call there.

Fans like to complain about not winning in the playoffs, but then don't want to make any bold moves to improve their chances of winning.

Kirk is not a panther. He has spots.
