If the Steelers knew they had Ryan Tannehill in their back pocket, a Russell Wilson trade would be acceptable to me

So we had this same exact discussion with Mason....remind me how did that turn out????
Did we, or didn't we need to go to Mason.
Fields has not played a complete season yet...., and over , and beyond that.....we are in week 4...., and we have already seen Qbs go down, but You want to trade the best backup in the league away. .....that cost us little very little too keep.

Ryan Tannehill already said He wouldn't go anywhere where He couldn't stay the starter. This was brought up by Miami.

I'm not....I'm living in reality. You are living in fear of Wilson... You would think after having this exact conversation about trading Mason, and then seeing that we need....not one , not two, but 3 Qbs last year you would have learned.

Fear of Wilson, what? What on earth are you even talking about :lolol:

I want to use him as trade bait to improve the team while you live in a what if world.

Hate to break it to you but if Tomlin doesnt make Wilson the starter he is going to want out. It’s his last chance to earn a contract.

Miami is only possible if Tua retires.
    Raiders is possible.
Browns? Probably not ready to admit they made a huge mistake with Watson and we probably dont trade him within the division.
Colts maybe if they bench Richardson.
    Titans ditto for Levi
NFC seems pretty set barring injury.

Not a lot of options. Raiders probably best bet, I dont think Tua is retiring. Adams or Myers would be nice upgrades and Wilson would welcome the chance to play against Denver.

I just deleted an entire well written paragraph which had many statistics and charts showing why fields is nothing more of what we've had in Pittsburgh since MikeT has been here. A few games above average and if you're happy with that then get ready for a few more years of just above average. Because especially now with fields and Tomlin together, that's exactly what you're gonna get......so enjoy!!!!

I am enjoying the 3-0 start, the Ravens have the 2 time MVP at QB and are 1-2, the Bengals with the great Joe Burrow are 0-3. So yes this has been an enjoyable start to the season.

If we were 3-0 and TJ sat out those three games, I would be excited. I am hopeful with Fields. He had terrible game tape in preseason. His camp by all reports was below average. He has three touchdowns in three games. Let’s wait before we trade away Russell.

    • I doubt Tagovailoa is retiring and the Dolphins seem ready to go forward with Huntley until he is back.
    • I don't think the Raiders are possible. O'Connell showed some flashes last year. I think they would just go with him if they bench Minshew.
    • There is no way the Browns are giving up on Watson. They are too deeply invested.
    • I think the Titans will be fine going with Rudolph if they ever do decide to bench Levis.
    • The Colts already have an old quarterback well past his prime behind Richardson. They have Flacco.

I think the Raiders would rather see what Wilson could do. If they believed in O’Connell he’d be starting.

I didn’t know about Flacco so probably not them and as far as Watson goes, I agree but we just saw the Broncos eat 80 million so you never know but aside from that the Steelers wouldnt deal him to a division rival. Still, baring an injury somewhere, the best landing spot is the Raiders.

Exceptions don’t make the rule. You see the value in keeping a player that you most likely wont need and I see the value in filling a big whole at WR. The WR position would go much further in helping this team than Wilson holding a clipboard. His only value would be injury/benching.

I'm not sure they believe in either guy, but I'm also not certain Wilson brings more value at this point. To give up enough value to make it worth trading him away, the Raiders would have to think he is a significant upgrade over what they currently have. I'm not so sure you can make that case.

What receiver are they getting for Wilson? If it's the Raiders and they sell off Adams, why bother trading for a veteran quarterback? That's a rebuilding move. It's not like they have great depth at the position. They have Adams and Meyers. Nobody else on that team moves the needle.

You’re not the GM though. Why would Denver give up what they did to acquire Wilson? Why would they pay him 80 million to play for someone else.

If the Raiders like Wilson who’s to say what they would do.

44% of Qbs went down last year. So I think having a great backup is a great thing. Ask Miami how they feel about that

He’ll ask out and Steelers will grant it so might as well try and get something for him.

I'm not sure He will, and either way....no team will trade for an injured player. He's still 3rd string emergency backup

Where did you get that number from? I dont recall nearly half the Qbs being injured last year.

Really? What kind of contract do you think he will get next season riding the pine this year?

I think theres a good chance Wilson plays this season, hes not going anywhere. We havent seen Fields play in a pressure situation, and i think once DC’s figure out how to make him one dimensional (take away his running) we may see him come back down to earth a bit.

Last week he won with his arm... I know he had a rushing TD against the Chargers, but he only ran 6 times for 6 yards. He won because he went 25 of 32 and a TD (one pick too). That was a pretty good defense we played. If he can give us 240+ in the air on a game to game basis, we are going to be really hard to beat. Still room to grow, but the Offense is improving on the fly. New QB, new OC, bunch of new OL rotating around... I think we are going to figure it out. Only time will tell though.

maybe, smith might be teaching him where to go with the ball and be decisive but its still early. Forget Chicago, i dont think he learned much there, fields himself said as much.

so your comparing a guy with three games in starting to figure it out versus a guy who's got 12 years experience, 16 game playoff experience. He’s seen just about everything a defense can throw at him.

If he’s ready to go and healthy im going with Wilson this year. If you want a shot at the super bowl, you go with Russell Wilson, TJ, and Cam. Not Fields, TJ, and Cam. Fields is a first round exit - at best. He doesnt have a chance against the Allen’s and Mahome’s,
