I don't want to see James Piere play CB

CB should've been the frontrunner for round 1 in 2024, I wanted Quinyon Mitchell instead we got an injury prone RT.

I still wouldn't discount Troy just yet. Mind you, Heath Miller had an injury history coming out of Virginia when the Steelers drafted him. He turned out pretty good. Lest we forget the man in my avatar was also riddled with them coming out of USC as well.

Troy's injury history does warrant concern for sure. However, his talent isn't to be faulted; Troy being a consensus Top 15 selection leading up to the 2024 Draft. David DeCastro was also within the same boat talent wise. A Dislocated Kneecap also derailed his Rookie Season but he ended up having a great career.

Troy will be okay. Not saying you are wrong in Quinyon Mitchell as I did want a CB but I also figured he'd be gone (hence why Nate Wiggins was my backup plan as far as Mims being there) but Fautanu's Steelers Story cannot be summed up by injury history. Injured to begin?! Sure. Something to monitor?! Absolutely.

Giving Troy another shot?! Most definitely.

If I was a member of the Dawg Pound in Cleveland I'd be pretty nervous right now.

Agreed, but it may be time for the Steelers to admit they will never be able to count on him when you consider his injury history in college and what has already happened during his time in Pittsburgh.

There is some hindsight involved here, but you're not wrong. They had the top corner in the draft, a legit pick at that spot, and passed. Instead, they left themselves relying on the injury-prone Trice as their top backup at cornerback and the predictable injury happened.

Is it hindsight if I said it during the draft thread?

no, but injuries happen. CB was not our biggest need. OL is and was. STILL IS. have neglected it far too long. And the plan was to move DJ - Khan has several CBs in mind, Jackson was in hand already. and Trice was in the plan too

Did I say that injuries happen?

It’s a hammy. Soft tissue injuries can happen to anyone regardless of history. The bigger question is if our strength and conditioning coaches are doing enough to prepare these guys

If you did, good for you. It was certainly a fair argument, though this team is clearly focused on building the lines first.

In Trice's case, they happen all the time.

so - we can debate that till the cows come marching home. We needed OL, and we needed it again this year. Had we gone Gonzo Rd. 1 in 2023, then we would have had to go T in RD 2 - so it becomes draft revisited.

Too much work for me right now!!!

Sure, they can happen to anybody, but some people suffer them more often. Trice seems to be one of those guys.

You know who....., and I was called a hater by someone because I wanted Gonzalez instead.....I believe they said I only didn't want Jones because I hated the Georgia Bulldogs , or something to that effect. In all honesty....it was just because I wanted Gonzalez instead.

I did not know - w/o asking / checking. was not baiting. I have no Bulldog or anyone other dog in that hunt. I liked Gonzo for sure, but wanted a T.

I predict that Quinyon Mitchell will go down alongside of DK Metcalf and Creed Humphries as guys we will post about during draft season for the next 10 years. :)
