Understood, and for that matter its not really a matter of discussion between the Steelers and Dolphins, unless Russ gives the signal he wants out (no trade clause). The topic of Waddle is actually humorous, they or anyone could inquire, but the CAP hit alone would be a non-starter. Some teams may get into a selling mode as the trade deadline gets closer, and though it has happened, rarely do you have major trades during an NFL season because of the CAP situation.

    I understand.

Mind you, me and @Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace are only speaking hypothetically. Me personally, if I am Stephen Ross, Chris Grier and Mike McDaniels, I'd contact Carolina about Bryce Young. In need of a refresh but much younger than Wilson and fits hand in glove with Miamis rhythm based Offense.

Not for Wilson but I have been hoping Khan could pull off a trade for Scary Terry but Washington got him going yesterday so he’s probably staying put.

I mentioned Raiders as a trade partner for Wilson, sign me up for Adams but would probably only be Myers.

Im not sure about Bryce Young.. still early… but all signs point down. Not only his height but he is a small fella overall.
I swear they need to get him a kid’s helmet.

Adams may be in consideration, as he is going to want out of Vegas. But, there is a slight roadblock, he already stated he wants to reunite with Rodgers.

Skins looked good last night or is it the lack of Bungles defense? Or a little of both?
Daniels threw some nice balls last night.

Kyler Murray was supposed to be out of the league given his height. Look how that turned out. Hell, look at the Cardinals! One of the best teams in the NFC at the moment; all because they both trusted and developed their QB properly. Now, Kliff Kingsbury clearly wasn't ready to be Head Coach but Kliff did manage to get this very same Kyler Murray to the Playoffs.

Compare that to Carolina. Carolina has royally effed up Byrce Youngs situation. For that matter, what is lost in translation leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft is the abhorrent number of different Offensive Philosophies clashing over what Bryce should do. Instead of that level of ineptitude, what should have happened is that an Offensive Staff should have been created with the sole intention of making a rythym based Offense using various motions, sets and shifts; the same Offense that did Bryce favors at Alabama.

Here in lies the kicker; Frank Reich never got to select his own Coaching Staff. Why wasn't he?! Two words; David Tepper. Now that I say that, David Tepper is solely a massive reason why Bryce Young has turned out the way he has. Still not convinced?!

What about his trade for Sam Darnold?! Look what Darnold was in Carolina; more of a laughing stock than he ever was in New York. Now look at Darnold; an early front runner for NFL MVP.

In short?! David Tepper is the problem in Carolina. Bryce Young is the victim.

Jury still out on Darnold… remember its only been 3 games.
Everything you said about Tepper is spot on sir.

    I dunno man.

Sam Darnold wasn't taken that high for no reason. Remember that Woody Johnson and the New York Jets failed Sam Darnold much like how David Tepper has failed Bryce Young. As I have said before, for a QB to succeed, he needs to have the proper support structure and stability to do so.

Hell, even Patrick Mahomes wouldnt be Patrick Mahomes without the likes of Andy Reid developing him, Brandon Beane giving him the support structure and Lamar Hunt continually stabilizing the entire organization whilst improving.

Sam Darnold, to me, might not win NFL MVP. However, I definitely say he does have a good shot to win NFL CPOY (Comeback Player of the Year). Should that happen?! Someone is backing up the Brinks truck for him.

I wasn't implying that you meant that you think that's the return, just that there isn't any reason for it to happen. I don't think there is a world where moving Russ is what is getting us a WR. We're looking at moving picks probably.

I agree that they would not trade him, but I think that his dead cap if traded is much less because about $32 million of the full guarantees are in future salaries, and his new team would take on that obligation. I think his dead cap if traded is more like $8 million.

I honestly don't care about a no trade clause; because if Wilson is placed in a situation where he could start, he'll wave that clause. With that said, I wouldn't trade him unless some team offers a deal that's too good to be true. I'm not fully sold on Fields being that guy, even if he's improving nicely right. Not to mention that if Fields gets hurt, it's better to having Wilson as someone to fill the void than relying on Allen.

Why without a Qb he's of absolutely no use to the team.

Why not. Why is Miami trying for a SB, and we are not??? You make it seem like we have no chance.
If Fields goes down, or something happens we need a real backup. Wilson. Why would You trade the best backup in the league....that cost you 1 million dollars for a Wrs....wrs are way more a dime a dozen than Qbs are. ....., and why would a team You just said was SB ready get rid of said wr for a Qb if they didn't just think what I just said??? That the Qb is more important.
I think this is more about some people are afraid of the Qb competition that may come...., and they want Wilson out of here so maybe there won't be.

I get what both you and BlastFurnace are saying. Its hard to have a trade piece in Wilson sitting on the bench this year when we will lose him next year (if Justin Fields is indeed our guy this year and beyond)...so why not trade him and get something for him such as a #2 WR. However, STD makes a great point that if Justin Fields goes down with an injury, then you'd rather have Russel Wilson ready to step in instead of the 3rd stringer at this point. We have a defense and solid all around team that could take us to the big dance, and wouldn't want a QB injury to derail that so it would be hard to trade a guy in Wilson who could step right in and perform just as well. This is a big dilemma. Now if Russell Wilson isn't happy and creating divide in the locker room then you'd have to maybe look at moving this chess piece for the better of the team...ala draft capital, a player (WR), and/or for crew morale.

The whole idea of trading someone, thinking you can get a quality player without giving up a host of capital is pretty humorous. There was a lack of a serious plan in the WR room, Omar laid an egg there. OL they made a plan and injuries have depleted it, but the plan (right or wrong) was there. Where you get into trouble is getting desperate to fill a need, empty the storehouse of talent (present and future) to fill a void. At times (rarely) a player becomes available that's to good not to try and get (Minkah), but unless someone is just selling out you are not going to find much out there mid season to fill the need, without giving up a ransom to get him.

Right now I think they just stay the course, if a WR does become available there might be a jump in that direction, but the number of teams still sniffing for a playoff spot before the trade deadline diminishes the number willing to trade assets for their own goals.

Rodgers blew out his Achilles tendon. That's not the same injury Wilson is dealing with.

Maybe Austin keeps making plays and/or Wilson steps up, but Khan left the Steelers without any reliable options at receiver other than Pickens and that was not good.

    This 100 %
As long as there is no problem....let's not make one. We are only into week 4, and we have already seen Qbs go down. Let's not ruin our chances of this season for maybe something of the future.

Darnold had a hot start a couple seasons ago and then fell back down to earth. Wouldnt be surprised if that happens again.

Don’t know how you came to the conclusion that I don’t feel we are trying to win a SB. Thats the very reason I say we should trade for a WR.

I’m not worried about what if’s such as needing Wilson if Fields gets hurt. You want to play what ifs? Fields goes down and Wilson steps in and reinjures his calf?

It’s a pointless exercise. Get the player that helps you the most now.
