Shoot, have you not seen this board in years past? Last year our offense looked like crap and people were torching players they wanted gone from defense.

I put $100 on it the second the Steelers lose a game, there's going to be that's on we should have started wilson.

You're full of it if you don't think this board will lose it when we lose a game. There will be threads on putting fields down with, his stats not being great. With saying he's 2:1 ratio, and two games were below 200 yards passing.

can't compare this year offense with last year offense.....Even when they were 6-3,the steelers could not move the ball at all and they were lucky to have this record...I had mentioned multiple times last year

This year, it's not perfect and that's normal since we have a new OC, but the steelers are still one of the best teams in time of possession and our offense plays a big part of that and Fields' stats would have been much better after 2 games without the flag happy refs in Denver and we would have had a different discussion about Fields last week, but now Fields had a good stats line this week and it was very deserved

What would his stats have been if we weren’t able to sit on the ball and play conservative? You seem to be presuming that we’d be performing the same on offense if our defense gave up more points.

    Thank Chicago for that then.

They are the ones who effed up the program. Take it up with the McCaskeys, Ryan Pace and Matt Eberflus.

True and penalties cost like 70-100 yards in his stats line in the first 2 games....This is a lot!

And he had only 23 and 20 pass attempts in the first 2 week!

You can throw these stats up all you want, but show the stats that can show so much more that has improved drastically from last year.

    How many 3 and outs.
    Time Of Possession
    How many more 1st Downs.
    Field Positioning

If the defense sucked, i wouldnt want Fields, or Wilson or Tomlin

i’d want a regime change and start drafting defensive players and our next franchise Qb. DT in rd 1 and the following year Qb in rd 1 - just like Dan Rooney did back in the day

I think that it is a false question because you have to look at the team as a whole. Justin Fields plays the way he does because that's what the team needs him to do. Get some points either through touchdowns or by getting Boswell and range and protect the ball. If our defense sucked and other teams were destroying us on points, yes we would have to score more points. We would have paid more attention to wide receivers and Justin Fields would be airing it out more. The entire team dynamic would be completely different......imo

I saw it, too, but that is probably just the page break. The larger reason why those rankings are a joke are that Mahomes is so low.

Yeah, this list is ****, Fields is playing better ball than several of those QBs ahead of him. Also his passer rating is one of the highest.

Smith as well. I look at who is on O and the injuries and we are very thin. Regardless of who we have played so far, the game plan has worked, the wins have come, and in every game the O seems to be building. Could we use more help. sure, but who and what cost? (other teams are not going to send you their best because they like us).

This question is nonsensical on its face, since our QB and offense overall would probably be playing quite a bit very differently if our defense was a disaster.

In fact, in that alternate universe where our D is bottom 5 in the league but Fields is still our QB, Fields' numbers would probably look substantially more inflated, as a much greater burden to win would be placed upon him and the offense would be forced to take far more risks.

In other words, that Fields, on the surface, looks relatively pedestrian (at least through the prism certain mainstream metrics) so far this season, is likely, at least in part, a reflection of the fact that our defense (and Chris Boswell) are playing lights out.

On the defense question, I honestly believe we would not be 3-0 if our defense wasn’t has dominant as it has been. No way.
Fields just needs to be avg at best. No turnovers or excessive turnovers and Steelers will be fine if defense keeps playing the way they are.
