I liked what I saw out of Kyle Allen in the pre-season. Actually I really thought Allen was a bit under-rated even before the Steelers signed him. I feel like Allen could manage a game or two if Fields were out. Anything long term and he Steelers would be in trouble. But you could say that about most backups.

Yes, and I can't think of a better QB that might be available over Russ, at least for short term

This 100 percent. Why would we trade.....at worst....the best backup in the league. Are we not trying to reach the SB???
Why would we purposely make the team weaker???

I'm not sending Russ anywhere. Our OL is still suspect which means our QB is running and/or getting hit nearly every play. I like having a backup I can trust.

I keep him if I can...unless he gets noisy/causing issues since he's not starting. I also thought he had a no-trade clause...so he wouldn't go anywhere unless he approves. I may be wrong about the no-trade clause.

Brice in guessing you didn’t get to see the games

I went to two of them

    Allen actually played well

    Fir a backup

Let's look at this so far....
People wanted to trade Najee, Moore, and Heyward away. Think of the problems we would be in if we had. Warren is not fully healthy, Moore is the only Healthy Tackle, and Heyward would be sorely missed on the DL.....so now we want to add R. Willson to that list.... No thank you. I want to win, and I'm repeating myself, but trading at worst the best backup Qb in the league is not how I see making the team better.....only weaker.

true, but Russ may be no answer to anything, that is what they have to realize. you lose 2 QB's and your season is about over, sorry to say.

As I said before.... Russell Wilson for Tyreek Hill. Nothing extra to Dolphins. no draft picks, nothing more.

Lamar runs for 100+ yards per game.

If we were to trade Russ, we should look for any good linemen they may want to part with. A WR would be nice but we have a lot of wounded on the OL.

A good WR would be number 1 on my list of priorities, but a good OT, G, DE, or CB might be worth considering too

I don’t disagree we could use that but this is a possession offense that will need to be able to run the ball consistently. We have lost several linemen to injury. The backups played well but who is behind them? Gotta have depth on the line, we saw the lack of depth at linebacker last year. Hopefully Roman Wilson will get out there soon to help with that position.

Now with Najee being injured, you can add a RB to the list of needs

We should have a couple we can look to, Edwards from Georgia played well a couple times in PS as did Shampklin and Ward

Do you think Wilson would mind being Fields back-up --and if he does not ---would he re-sign with Steelers to stay here especially if we win a SUPERBOWL.:confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1::confused1:

I'm sure he would mind. My gut tells me they're going trade Wilson to the Dolphins though

No, he doesn't. Even in 2019 when he set his career high with 1,206 yards rushing, he did not average 100 yards per game. He averaged 51.3 yards rushing per game in 2023.

Yes, Jackson is a huge threat as a runner, which makes a pure passing comparison between him and Wilson misleading, but if we are going to go there, let's use accurate numbers to do it.

I agree, it’s imperative that the numbers we quote on this blog are 100% because our very lives depend upon it. Think of the negative ramifications of me loosely saying he runs for 100 yards rather than a precise number, even know nearly anyone with common sense would know I was basically saying the two players are not the same because of Lamar’s running ability. I’m not going to get a single minute of sleep tonight. Thank you for saving the sport we all love.
