Man, Anderson sure whiffed on the designed QB run early.

I will admit after 2 straight 3 and outs and then watching Charges score a TD after a long drive, I started to wonder how long a leash Tomlin had on Fields .

Then again I didn't know if Wilson was even active for the game, or just the Emergency QB

BTW. Anderson was just plain terrible on that first play. The play would have worked if Anderson makes the block. Maybe a reason we saw Mason McCormick in the 2nd half.

A very fair assessment. What gives me comfort is that we consistently worked the middle of the field. That was absent in weeks 1 + 2. I knew that the QB run game would be there, and I expected the occasional big downfield plays, especially off schedule. What I was concerned about was execution of the basics wherein good decisions make for easy throws, and there was a big step forward yesterday for Fields in executing the basics.

Orlovsky did a nice breakdown of the final drive, praising his ability to read the defense and rip it with great arm strength on the throw to Pickens and the touchdown to Austin. He admitted that Fields was late throwing the ball on the touchdown, which is why Austin had to stop for it, but as he pointed out that is an example of why arm strength matters.

I still think Fields has mental work to do and he may never get there with the elite guys, but his physical gifts can make up for some of that.

Several breakdowns, Muth also missed on a read that left Najee for dead. Only 3rd game, getting better and that was their best performance yet.

Most importantly, Fields is growing as a QB. This is what I have been preaching and what JT touched on, with Fields ability to run, as he develops as a passer it will stress the hell out of defenses.
