I know I know. And then I had to defend her at parties and social gatherings. And it didn't just happen once. Oh well - 2 great daughters and 4 wonderful grandchildren - so it was rewarding in that way.

Chad McQueen (son of Steve) aka Dutch from The Karate Kid. RIP

That's now 2 OG Cobra Kai kids gone. Rob Garrison: Tommy "Get him a body bag! Yeah!" passed away 5 years ago not long after reprising his role on the TV show Cobra Kai... where (in the show) he died from a terminal illness and got put in a body bag.

Edit: I posted this to the wrong RIP thread. Now moved to the right one. Bad mod! No donut!

I had no idea they were related until today. Was he in the spinoff series?

Virtually everyone from the movie (and sequels) still living (RIP Pat Morita) has shown up on the series in either small cameos or larger roles. Chad McQueen was asked to appear a few times but always turned them down. He considered himself retired from acting and was focusing on racing. They tried one last time for the final season, but by then, he was ill and in a wheelchair. They name dropped Dutch once or twice, but that was it.

In (I think) season 2, the had an episode where they reunited all of the original movie Cobra Kai kids (Johnny's old friends getting together). The impetus for their getting together was that Tommy was very ill and didn't have much time left. So they all went to see him, snuck him out of hospice and gave him (as it turned out) one last hurrah. He died in his sleep while camping that night... and was put in a body bag by the coroner when they found him in the morning.

The actor was not sick when they filmed the episode. He died about 6 months later right around the airing of the episode, so many thought he was sick IRL when they filmed it. He wasn't. The episode kind of served as a "where are they now" thing for all the minor characters. Bobby (the one who frantically apologized to Daniel after he hurt his leg because he never wanted to cheat but Kreese made him) became a Preacher. He has appeared in a few episodes now.

    Yes. Briefly

the new series was fun for a brief period, but certainly not good enough to warrant 6 seasons or whatever they’re at now

Not sure - didn't see it mentioned in the articles. MM was the first (or one of the first) of the touted truly gifted speedsters in the NFL, although Bob Hayes played for a while I believe after his Olympic track days. But MM had the name to match. Fun to watch. RIP.

Not quite an RIP yet, but Dave Mason, still touring at 78, had to cancel all West Coast concerts due to a recently diagnosed "serious heart condition". The man has been part of some great music over the years (IMO) and probably a few intoxicants along the way. He claims he will be back "better than ever" next year and resume a heavy touring schedule. I wish him well and hopes he just settles down and enjoy some easy living for a spell. I still like his various versions of the great All Along the Watchtower. RIP - recover in peace Sir!

RIP Maggie Smith. Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, etc. Won a couple Oscars. She was 89. I'm sure England will give her a good send off.

I enjoyed the Rob Zombie remakes, of course i like anything he directs. He is demented and plays some cool tunes in his movies for the soundtrack.
