I think I would have signed Wilson to a 2 year deal so that takes away leverage from Fields when we try to re-sign Fields.

 

Because the offense wasn't scoring enough points, they had players unhappy and complaining.

Right now it was a solid prove it deal with Wilson. If he excels they will retain him. Fields was grabbed for a saw buck next season. When the trade deadline comes around or a team loses a starting QB they can trade Fields and fleece some more picks. Even if Fields makes it to FA they paid very little for him. But I can see a scenario where they could grab a 2nd or a 3rd and get that 6th back in a trade possibly.
