Well, here we are in the off-season. Say what you will about free agency but it has made the off-season more interesting. I realize the Steelers aren't major players but it's still fun to keep an eye on it.

I thought it might be fun if we put on the record what we think the most surprising move the Steelers will make this off-season. Will we go out and grab a splash free agent? Will we release a veteran player that no one saw coming? Will we re-sign one of our own that appeared to be as good as gone?

I'll start us out and would be interested to get everyone else's thoughts on what you think will be the most surprising move the Steelers will make this off-season.

    Here we go:

I predict that the Steelers will re-sign Rashard Mendenhall to a short-term, moderate contract to allow him the opportunity to redeem himself. :hmmm:

    Your turn!

Now I'm confused. So you are saying keeping Mendy would be the most surprising off season move? I should then interpret that as meaning you think he should go?

If that's the case then I say that the Steelers resign Mike Wallace.

What I'm saying is that most pundits believe that Mendy has played his last down in Pittsburgh, but I believe that there is a reasonable chance that he will be re-signed and I am making that prediction. I don't believe that there is a snowball's chance in hades that we re-sign the diva.

Out of their list of FA's, I think they need to bring back 2 of them, Legs and Keenan Lewis. I think Legs will be back for sure but everyone seems to think Lewis is gone, that's my pick, we'll sign him, Lewis will be back.

I hope you're right, TE. To me, Lewis is the top off-season priority for the Steelers.

I don't think there's going to be any huge surprises.

I'll say biggest surprise is letting Ramon Foster, Legursky, & Redman walk

I think they sign Lewis and Wallace and cut Taylor and Colon. Think they will try and rework Brown's contract, they overpaid him and I think he and the Steelers both know it. Still on the fence on wheather or not they cut Harrison.

i think they will have to find money. i don't want this but i think they might to keep troy. some guys are going to go. not just harrison and colon. that doesn't even get us to what we are over the cap. they also have to trim it before we get the best deal for some after june 1. that's the hardest part for them right now. before june 1 we are hit with the full cap amount this year only. we can't spread it out over the two year period. we have a corner to sign too.:cool:

they could extend ben restructure timmons and brown , i mean i don't have problem if they cut clark because i don't have too much faith in the next season with all the problem we have , so if they cut clark i would cut keisel too , if we have to reload ....

I predict we let Casey go and give McClendon the starting NT job and he becomes a pro bowler next year.

Well not we let him go in the sense that we cut him but I mean we basically don't resign him. I think we don't resign him and I think MCCLendon gets the job.

I dont see this as surprising at all. As its almost certain that this WILL happen (baring some crazy change).

I agree, I think McClendon gets the job, but I think he gets beat out mid season by Tamu (spelling) if he stays out of jail.

But do you see MCCLendon as a Pro Bowler? He just seems really hungry to me.

I didnt even comment on that part because this is supposed to be a surprising OFF SEASON move...I'm trying to keep things on the topic at hand. Plus while the PB is an honor for some I dont care about it.

Not truly off season, but trade down in draft.
