dwight freeney in black&gold...

Just heard that the Colts will not sign Dwight Freeney. I think freeney can help us on passing downs. He's 33 but should have another 2 good years left. I would like to see him as a pass rushing specialist.

we are just about to release harrison eating the dead money and we put more amount on freeney ? the only good things about all this cuts is that maybe the market will be inflationed and harrison could take a big pay cut but we need at least ten big name olb on the market on the same time ...let's see

But these threads actually ARE Steeler related because they are asking whether or not the STEELERS should look at player A or B or whatever. Doesn't the fact that someone is asking whether or not the Steelers should do something make a thread Steeler related? You are right gp about Freeney though. He's not a 3-4 guy anyway.

In all my years of following the old message board and now this one, I have never seen any call for people to stop these kind of threads actually work.

I think we should learn from this. Some things are just going to happen on a fan board. And you know what? I think these threads are kind of fun. Every discussion we have of who should be signed etc. is as close to affecting reality as the next one. And it's pretty obvious which ones are more serious than others.

At this point, the Steelers cannot afford to field a 53 man roster. (plus all of that other stuff posted above too)

 

You write that in jest (I hope), but I remember another message board where there was a poster who would seriously advocate for such silliness. At one point he was seriously advocating for the Steelers to trade up to draft Brady Quinn in the first round, so he would push Ben to get better.

 

The Steelers would have the most depth and most stacked practice squad and the rest of the league would be left with cripples and Div II rejects.
