Steelers were a sleeping giant that angrily awoke in 2004. Epic season.

The 2004 season was supposed to be one of the toughest schedules in the league that year. Cowher was determined to get back to Steelers football after experimenting with Amos Zereoue as the feature back in a pass happy offense in 2003.

My wife roped me into going to her non sports watching family for their family Christmas dinner during that Giants game. Finally I couldn't take it any longer and changed their TV channel to watch the game and saw the whole amazing fourth quarter. My wife told me that it was extremely rude to go into someone else's house and change their TV channel. I told her it was extremely rude for them to schedule a dinner during a Steeler game. I slept on the couch for a couple of nights but it was worth it.

Sounds like a certain Beatles tune - I'll let our creative lyric member(s) herein re-tweak this for the occasion: :guitarplayer:

"It was 20 years ago today
Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play
They've been going in and out of style
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile
So may I introduce to you
The act you've known for all these years
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

We're Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
We hope you will enjoy the show
We're Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Sit back and let the evening go
Sgt. Pepper's lonely, Sgt. Pepper's lonely
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
    It's wonderful to be here
    It's certainly a thrill
    You're such a lovely audience
We'd like to take you home with us
We'd love to take you home

I don't really want to stop the show
But I thought you might like to know
That the singer's gonna sing a song
And he wants you all to sing along
So let me introduce to you
The one and only Billy Shears
And Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
    Yeah

Same! That game was fun...and it got REAL loud when the Cowboys started making some waves in the second half before the eventual Steelers victory. Memorable trip!

Agree scheduling anything during a Steelers game is rude

And making a guy sleep on the couch is not punishment it’s like camping and guys like camping

Out in country near where we live my wife and I decided to try a new church and they had a new minister

She started out her service by rudely saying some of the congregation had asked her not to make the service too long because of the start of the Steelers game

She bragged how she was going to run the service for an extra half hour and proceeded to do so

At 10 minutes to one my wife and I got up and walked out of the church and never went back

I was at that game!! I lived in Maryland most of my life (some time in PGH as a youth). Became hardened fan in late 70's - back to Maryland in '81 - Colts left, remained die hard black and gold.

Fast forward 2004 Season - week 2 - saw Tommy Gun get hammered, we got blasted that game, but I saw the ERA BEGIN!!!

What a season that was - the next week was post hurricane in MIA? Remember Faneca basically saying the season was lost??!?!!

Little did we know what was about to happen. Very glad we got him. Now if only we would have taken Marino this would have been a totally different franchise, easily 8-9 titles by now.

Never heard of him until they drafted him. I remember a lot of people on the old message board were going nuts. They knew we found one. I had no idea but trusted their opinion of Ben and they were right. Can't remember poster but always remember one of the first post after we picked him, "Finally #5 will be coming".

I believe I've told this before, but My cousin(Bears fan) got married the day we played the Chiefs with Joe Montana at Qb in the playoffs . I only got to watch the 1st half. I was so pissed, and when the wedding was over....I ran to my truck to listen for the score, and we had lost. I was even more pissed. Like I told Him later after He was divorced.....I said thats what he deserved for making me miss a Steeler playoff game. LoL

There were rabid Giants Fans behind us jawing the whole game until the 4th quarter. The crickets at the end I turned around and gave them the thumbs up! Great day.
