I blame the refs because some of these penalties are questionable, that holding penalty on Moore was weak.

Don’t forget we made it through two long road games to start the season! It matters.

Dude? A back up? It’s sad that all a guy can do is win a game and that’s not enough. Have you watched Caleb Williams? I think we need a re-set on the guy and give him a chance. FGS

That’s fine. I don’t expect his issues to be fixed after one training camp. He’s got tremendous athletic ability, but he’s a project. That was the case before he was drafted and still the case now. The point is we did see some good things from him. If he can put it together we might have a solid qb. Whether or not he will put it together is anyone’s guess.

They seem to think he's ok, just ok some preliminary precautions.
Harbaugh is doing a really good job with that team so far; it may melt in the 2nd half, but they are a big improvement over last season.
And any defense with names like Mack and Bosa are going to be trouble.

On the other hand, I do like Smith Offense. I just can't say if Tomlin is restraining it to keep Fields in check or does he actually believe he can sit on a 3-point lead the entire game?
As I said, I don't like either QB option. I can't criticize Fields as he is playing ok.
But we're going to need some plays.

And I agree, the refs have not been friendly.

Tomlin knew the way our defense was man handling the Broncos that a 10-0 lead was insurmountable. The only way the Broncos win that game is if the Steelers start turning the ball over, I think that is why they ran such a conservative offense in the second half. Run 3 plays and punt and we can't lose the game was the mindset after halftime.

Look, I don't want it to sound like I'm rooting for Justin Fields to fail just to prove a point. I like the kid. He has a great attitude and he's a competitor, it's clear he wants to win. But I want to see what a guy with a ton of experience and a resume' can do working with this offense. It's true Wilson will have the same warts to deal with. Lack of a threat outside of George at wideout. Uneven offensive line play, bad penalties etc. I'm sure over the course of his career Wilson has faced the same issues. If he is healthy enough to start against the Colts no matter the outcome against the Chargers, I think he needs to get the ball. They can always go back to Fields if he stumbles and looks washed.

One good point has been made about Fields. The play calling has been very conservative. It's pure speculation to suggest the results would be much improved with more aggressive offensive play calling. We can't know that until or if it ever happens. They are 2-0 in part because he has taken care of the football for the most part. I'm sure Wilson will have the whole playbook at his disposal. That's what I want to see.

Worked that time, but they can't just sit on a 10-0 lead against the better teams. I'd like to see them open up the offense and try to bury these teams the next time they get a cushion like that

Well sure a 10-0 lead means nothing against a good team but yesterday the Broncos weren't scoring 10 points against our defense.

I figure you are smack on....
but even a blind squirrel finds a nut, and if you keep giving the other offense chances.
It doesn't take but one play with blown coverage.
Put the other team away (The Saints did) so you don't have to have a cardiac arrest.. lol

The only reason I clicked optimistic is, all they needs was for someone in coverage to mess up or even just slip... it's 13-13.. they have a good kicker.
You just ever want to give any momentum to the other side..
other than that, I totally get what you are saying and agree. Just cautiously.

How many times the steelers have lost a game after being up at one point in the fourth quarter since 2020?

I have just 2 in my head,2021 vs chargers when we were behind 27-10 before the fourth quarter and they were up 37-34 before losing 41-37 and the game vs jets in 2022....Both game without Watt....

The defense won those games. Fields made some plays, but the offense has one touchdown. Most of their points have come on drives that didn't even reach the opponent's 30 due to the greatness of Boswell. All this talk I keep seeing that Fields somehow won the job the last two weeks makes no sense.

Its a hell of a lot better than we saw last year. I watched Borrow, Prescott, and even MaHomes yesterday and I didn’t see much better. He won two long distance road games to open the season, accept it and stop to micro evaluations. It’s not always what you do, sometimes it’s what you don’t do.

True the defense won both games but Fields was not a problem for us....so many big play by him who was cancelled by penalty, especially in the first half yesterday when it cost 7-11 points, so the Steelers would have had 17-21 points at halftime if they had been clean. You can't ignore it

We had passing on 1st down at least a few times....I don't remember exactly how many times, but. If You call a pass, and the Qb runs it anyway, takes a sack, or the team has a penalty....that's not on the OC.

Playcalling got very predictable in the second half, and the o-line was nowhere near dominant enough to impose their will on that.

I was screaming for some playaction in the 2nd.
