I don't like our QB's but I can't say anything bad about Fields.

But what I don't like in the conservative play calls when they are sitting on a small lead.
You just can't keep handing the ball over to the other team's offense and giving them chances.
When offense is struggling to get in the end zone, they should try some different things to put the game away.
I am not sure if they are just putting some clamps on Fields to show him how to take care of the ball and win ugly or what.

But that is really my only 'team' complaint
As for players, there's probably going to be a serious conversation with Jones this week.
Whatever has gotten into him lately needs to go and go now.
He did not play like that last year, and he is a far better player than what I've seen thus far.

At a few points, all 4 screens on my Sunday Ticket were displaying "Flag" - I saw a lot of bad calls Sunday.

he has not earned not lost the job at this point, IMO.

But IF / WHEN Russ is healthy, he needs to step into Pole Position. Fields is doing ok - for a 4th (5th?) yr player, but I want to see a VETERAN run this thing for a few games. He knows the reads, knows (or should know) where the 12, 2 and 3 WR's are.

True - the OLINE is a sieve of sorts now, so FIELDS helps ALOT there, but there is no rhythm - just sandlot of sort.

2nd half was PATHETIC on offense yesterday.

factually , of course - you are correct - he is younger!!!!

more upside - that is up for debate, in terms of leading this particular 2024 team.

we have won 2 games against 2 team that are not too good.

I don't think Pickett would make this throw

If it would count, the stats line of Fields would been much better....That and the TD of Pickens who did not count in the first half

Fields is 6-2 in his last 8 starts since last year....Big difference when you don't have the worst defense in the league like it was the case for Fields in 2022 and first half of 2023 and he had Claypool as number 1 WR in the second half of the 2022 season

Yep, T.O.P is going to be important this season. I like our D and IMO it is top 5. Last few seasons it seemed our D played 45 minutes and the O 15. If we can keep T.O.P at about even I'd like our chances every game.

Right now after 2 games, this is 67 minutes for the offense and 52 minutes for opponents....It was 48 minutes vs 72 last year after 2 games

Going to need some points against the Chargers.
We won't win sitting on a 3-point lead for 3 Qtrs.

I read in another post Herbert may be having a little injury problem. Wouldn't bother me to face Stick in Pittsburgh.

I want a challenge for this defense,so the steelers will likely need to score more point and see what they can do on offense if they are more clean

    Thoughts on the game.

1.Cory Trice, glad to see him get an INT, and it was key, touchdown saving and took 3 points at minimum off the board.

    2. Washington, glad to see the Big Man get his first NFL TD.

    3. Defense all around did a good job.

    4. Offense needs to come around. I think a lot of it is being dumbed down by Tomlin, its boring football, but this method isn't going to beat a good team. The Steelers basically have one method of beating someone, take care of the ball, and force them to make Turnovers.

    5. The penalties need to stop. Its amazing that we are 2-0 with all the penalties.

    6. Think they need to let Fields utilize his run game more.

    7. Good to be 2-0. I'm still not convinced that we are anything more than a 9-8 team, unless we somehow discover some scoring.

    8. When Roman Wilson plays he better be the 2nd coming of JC because we have nothing on offense behind George Pickens at WR #2. Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin III have not been it through 2 games.

I'm not sure Mayfield was an option. I think he was staying in Tampa all along.

I KNOW Pickett couldn't make that throw, lol. I'm impressed with Fields arm strength and accuracy throwing deep. If only he had another deep threat other than Pickens to throw it to

That throw was a terrible decision. He threw into triple coverage. On other plays, he failed to see open receivers. Don't get me wrong. He was good, but he still struggles when his first or second read isn't open.

Barely. They hit one slant to Pickens and Fields threw an ugly incompletion toward Austin, who had three defenders around him.
