Like with the Steelers, I'm a loyal Pitt fan through and through, along with the Pens and Pirates. Each team in my lifetime tenure have had their share of stardom and success along with spans of frustration and dismal seasons. Sports at the college and pro level is not what it once was with the TV deals and other financial aspects impacting team building and level fields. In spite of all this, I'll still root heartily for each when they take the field or ice. It's in my blood and nothing will take that away.

I went to Pitt, but have no delusions about them being in the top 32, if indeed such a super 'conference' is adapted. It may happen, but a lot of football teams will be left out as well. Personally i think college football will actually suffer if such a thing happens, in the end money will determine what they do, but that should not be a surprise to anyone.

I'll say one thing for Pitt, they were part of the fantastic Championships of the 70's in the Burgh. 1971-1980 7 Pittsburgh Championships.

Isn't going to happen ever again for Pitt FB with all the realignments and the zany NIL vortex. I was shocked when I looked up the National Championship Schools for the past 25 years. See anything in common? Other than Michigan, OSU and USC sneaking in a few times, crickets for anyone outside of the deep deep south.

Well Pitt in a reversal of fortune managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat today at Cincy. FG with 14 seconds left gave them first lead of the day and a 1 pt W. I'll take it. Who's this Reid guy? Had nearly 150yds on the ground and over 100 in the air. Another Tony D? Not a terribly tough schedule this year with Vassar, Conley Trade School and Skidmore yet to play. :drinks:

My son and I went to that game. We were front row and talking with all the players. Eli threw that INT in the end zone and I told him shake it off. Another non scoring series he walked by us and I said keep your chin up. I’ve never been so close to the players for a game and couldn’t believe how cheap we bought those tickets for at the box office. We were high fiving all the players after the game. When they were down 27-6 I thought it was going to be another blowout where we would be staying to the last second again. What a comeback victory. Best college football game I’ve ever been to.

The non-power schools have been on this since well before I even started watching football in the 70s.

There was a team that went undefeated for 2 complete seasons and were dismissed as not worthy for the playoffs due to 'weak schedule'. Then the power conferences snatch up all those 'weak' programs and suddenly they are all top 25 worthy.

NCAA football has never been a level playing field for ALL schools. It has always been more about money than football. There has recently been talk of the SEC just starting it's own league that they can just run like a pro league, with salary cap and trades and the whole thing. Not anything about 'student athletes', just a football league. I wonder why Saban retired from coaching.

Quick question, is the Godfather Dontay Corleone health improving from clotting in his lungs? I saw he dressed for this game.

He played probably 65% of the defensive snaps and was impactful to a degree. Pitt Oline held him in check for the most part though. During the final drive Pitt had a 3rd and 3 and the Bearcats stopped the drive but there was a flag on the play for Defensive delay of game, which the home fans were going crazy over. Hardly blame them. Not sure what that was even for. The next play Corleone had his helmet ripped off but no flag. The place was even more going crazy and so was he. That was the drive where Pitt won the game. I told a cop I might need security getting out of here.

Thank you, I have had my eye on him quite awhile for our Steelers. I am a Pitt supporter so I didn't want him to play too well against our Panthers. H2P I was at The Rivers making a bet on Steelers and got there just in time to watch game winning drive. The place exploded when Pitt scored.

I'd love to be in the Burgh today. Minus the traffic of course. Pirates at 1:05. Meh. Panthers at 3:30. Guessing a lot of WV fans make the trip. Place will be insane. Hope weather is good up there. To bad the Steelers don't have a home game Sunday.

Another big last minute win for Pitt today after hardly having any chance being down by 10 very late in the game. GO PITT!
