My older brother was cussing the Steelers out for this game. His opponent in fantasy football that week had Bettis and he got some points just nothing for yardage. As soon as Bettis went in on goalline plays he'd start to swear. Pretty sure he still complains about it to this day. Which is fine because I still can't wash the image of gimpy Sid Bream rounding third from my mind.

Let me tell You right now....I freaking disliked many of the members on the old board after that game. You should have heard how they talked about the Bus, and Bill Cowher after that game.
How the Bus had something on Cowher, and that the Bus didn't deserve those TDs......I swear. I'm surprised I didn't get kicked off the old board that night. LoL

I got to know Sid Bream when his daughter and mine became good friends in school. He told me that if he would have been out at the plate the Braves would have been screwed going into extra innings because they used all of their bench players and would have had to play 2 pitchers in the outfield if the game continued.

Took me a good 20 years to stop hating the entire city of Atlanta. It really bothered me their pitching staff were all good golfers. That was insult to injury for me. Not sure if I'll live long enough to stop hating Boston.

I was the only Pirates fan in a huge Atlanta Bar in Jonesboro GA with about 400 Braves fans there. I slammed a glass bottle on the table and cut my hand while screaming he’s out. My buddy says you’re bleeding. I kept saying I don’t care he’s out. It didn’t need stitches or anything but while the whole bar was going nuts I was believing that he was out. Kind of still do to this day. Thought for sure Spanky had that tag from Andy Van Slyke.

I moved to Denver and went to a sports bar to watch the Steelers and Broncos

I wore a Steeler shirt under a generic shirt so I wouldn’t get my ass whooped

    I kept my mouth shut

Then someone broke through the line and slobber knock sacked Elway

Before I could stop myself I leaped up and yelled “nail that son of a *****”

An entire sports bar went silent

I jumped down to the floor and crawled through people for a while to safety

The thing that still bothers me to this day is that the big bats for the buccos went silent in both of those NLCS. The Braves bullpen was tough but still they should have had one good showing.

I put this memory in a small filling cabinet in the back of my brain years ago

    Then I locked the drawer

And Yinz n’ at decided to open it up

I like to revisit it every so many years because it reminds me of when I was younger and baseball was important to me like every summer.

Ok. Maybe it was and my mind has slipped but I remember AVS just sitting in the outfield forever in disbelief.

In the 1992 NLCS we were down 3 game to 1 and won game 5 by a score of 7-1 and game 6, 13-4. Our bats came alive only to score 2 freaking run in game 7.

Van Slyke kept signaling him to move back but Bonds was right to hold his ground.
