I thought it strange that coaches were leaving for positions that were the same or even lower rank and now this article touches on it briefly. I think Haley is a very difficult person to work with, one of the reasons I was nervous about him coming here. Don't forget his accusations against KC's owner bugging his office and home. I hope this coming season isn't another train wreck

EXACTLY! This is a non story that for some reason turned into one. Wow Ed Bouchette believes Montgomery was nudged to leave....Ok? With the way the receivers played this season, he had to know his job would be in question. Dropped passes, fumbles, penalties...I mean the whole team had its problems, but nobody is safe after an 8-8 season. The only reason this is even being reported because of the way the steelers handled the Arians situation. Instead of telling the truth and saying we are relieving Bruce of his duties and going a different way, they said he was retiring, and well we all know the end of this story.

It's a silver lining for now because I agree, those coaches should have been gone anyway but if it is because people have a problem with Haley, how long before good coaches leave? What if the guys who replaces those coaches do great but leave because of Haley? Won't be such a positive then.

I get what you're saying, but I can't see a team letting their OC drive good coaches away. This story kinda has a tmz type of ring to it. They are implanting the idea into people's heads that Montgomery was maybe pushed out because of Haley, and maybe Kugler took the UTEP job because he was on his way out after the season anyway. I can't see the Rooney's letting Haley push away anyone who can thrive and make an impact as a steeler coach

It really wouldn't surprise me at all if people were leaving because of him. It also wouldn't surprise me if we're 8-8 or worse next year either. If you remember the last Mike Wallace interview he mentioned something he said was very telling, but overlooked by most. It was something to the extent of I want to go somewhere with an offense that fits my skill set. That says to me that he is also having an impact on some players. You have to think that his running back by rotation will weigh heavily on Mendenhall's decision.

Or could it be that he wants to hold his coaches ACCOUNTABLE for the job (or lack thereof) that their players are doing. Regardless, I share your concern.

Lets face it, Halley wasn't on anyones radar after KC canned him, he only got looked at by the Steelers because of his dad. I'm going to hold out hope he can put together a good offensive scheme but I saw a lot of stubbornness out of him in his first season. A younger and more agile line should make his job easier, lets see if he can put it all together. I have my doubts though, I keep hearing about how his strong suit is using players to fit their skill set but we didn't see that did we and if there is any truth to this report that can be a problem.

We definitely heard a lot about how he would build an offense suited to our players. It certainly didn't play out that way. If there ever was a round hole square peg offense it was the 2012 Steelers. Repeatedly running Redman East-West? If it wasn't for Ben's early season 3rd and long success we might have been looking at a top 5 pick.

    :this!:

I'm sure Haley is difficult to work with. Is he not from the Bill Parcells' coaching tree? How many thinks Parcells was easy to work with? Show of hands! Nobody? Okay, what about Bill Belichick? Tom Coughlin? Was Vince Lombardi a people person? Chuck Noll could be a difficult individual himself at times. My point is that some of the most successful coaches in NFL history probably got an unsatisfactory grade in the "plays well with others" category. The NFL is unlike any other venue in the world. Jerry Glanville wasn't right about a lot but he was right about one thing and that's that the NFL stands for NOT FOR LONG if you don't have success NOW! Haley is a catalyst. A catalyst causes a reaction. We need that. Like freak said above the coaches leaving NEED to be leaving. I'm beginning to think that Tomlin may be too docile to make the tough and unpopular decisions that it takes to build a successful football team. We shall see. I think the team has regressed and it's up to him to move it forward again. To paraphrase something my friend Tomlin_Era said in another thread, Tomlin may not have the kohonas to make the tough decisions. I agree.

That article squints hard to read between the gossip lines, but as far as Haley being responsible for the recent coaching turnovers...

Dude how do YOU know that Haley is not throwing his weight around at UTEP and Duke to get rid of these guys that are a threat to his empire? LOL.

We have two more under performing coaches that should get fired
still here so if Old Todd Haley is getting them fired or if they
see the writing on the wall maybe he can give them a push LOL.

That story is pretty much speculation and nonsense. Two coaches whose players that they are responsible for are under performing big time and they left because Haley is hard to work with? Joke!

    Yea,
I'm sure Haley is coming into the organization saying that it's my way or the highway. What a joke of a thread.
Tomlin better watch his coach cliche back. He'll be gone next. LeBeau better have eyes in the back of his head also. Shoot, He might just oust all the Rooneys also. I love how some expected him to go 19-0 his first season and win the SuperBowl. What a complete failure. Bring in Dave Wandstadt already! Shhhhhh.

Why is that so hard to believe? Scott Pioli, formerly of the New England Cheatriots, was running the organization at the time. I don't guess Pioli, coming from the Cheatriots organization, would ever do something like bugging an office or secretly videotaping another team's walk-thrus and hand signals, oh, wait...
