I would agree, but that's simply not true. Trubisky threw it into the middle quite a bit, and so did Mason for the little time He played.

Except when Trubisky threw it into the middle of the field it was to the other team .

I was listening to the fan and that annoying Aditi whatever her name is said Tomlin loves winning ugly. I can’t stand her but chuckled at that because he actually does try to win games 13-10 :roflmao:

People have to understand that Fields isn't Patrick Mahomes. The 3rd down play in which Freiermuth was open in the middle, Fields took off and ran for the first down. I would much rather Fields run for a sure first down instead of risking a pass. Many things can go wrong on a pass, nothing can go wrong if it's 3rd and 5 and Fields has 6 open yards he can run for.

Maybe, but that running lane isn't always going to be there, so Fields is going to have to start making those throws. Also, when he runs he runs a risk of getting hurt. This is especially true of Fields. He is fast, but he also has a physical element to his running style. You don't want your quarterback taking those hits.

I like AS as the OC so far: https://thesteelersfans.com/forums/threads/arthur-smith-not-justin-fields-reason-why-steelers-didn’t-throw-over-middle-against-falcons.33417/

Sounds like he actually has brains and used strategy.

the play designs also looked pretty "sophisticated" compared to the crap of the last 3 years. It's mind boggling how they thought Canada would make a good to OC and hired him... and then KEPT him for 3 freaking years! OMG. If it smells like a turd, looks like a turd, game review shows it's a turd, then flush the freaking turd!

    Agree.

People can argue the gameplan sucked, but you cannot argue there was no gameplan.
Unlike Canada, who seemed to string a bunch of random plays together and called it 'a plan'.

A wise HC once said "there are 3 things that can happen on a pass, and 2 of them are bad".

Common denominator is Tomlin, we have been through a handful of different qbs, yet here we are still not using MOF

Besides injury, and a fumble, but this is exactly why most , not all Running Qbs never get better. Because that's exactly what they think......and then they run into teams that say.....ok we are going to give you one on one all day,,but You aren't going to run it.....they dare them to throw it. The whole position of the Qb is to distribute the ball to the targets.

Yes you want a QB to be able to throw the ball to an open receiver, but I am strictly speaking about Fields here. If he has a wide open receiver 20 yards down field but also can choose to run 5 yards for the first down, as a Steeler fan I am much more relieved when he just runs for the first down because I trust his legs much more than his arm.

Way too much overreaction to one game, it looks it was the OC decision.

Left off which others? These are the charts that popped up when I did a search. Im not going to spend all day looking for every players charts.

The fact is, this has been going on since Bens last days. It’s by design. They just came out and said it today that Smith purposely avoided the MOF because of Bates.

No one ever said no player ever runs a route in the MOF but you can clearly see from the charts I have posted that they mostly avoid that area of the field.

Yeah, I saw this too. We’ll see if they start using it more, it’s a staple of Smith offenses. If he suddenly abandons it, I don’t see how anyone can think Tomlin isn’t directing that.

Only the Buffalo game. The Cincy game (think it was Cincy) there was some but everything was at the LOS.

I gave credit to Madden for that wisdom. Either way it is technically true. I always liked the way Madden would go ballistic when a team would "complete a pass for NONE yards" as Madden would say.
