Truth. Either way, the cupboard is relatively bare.

You see, that's why I said that I "think", not that I "know" they were actively seeking a trade. Just seemed to me that there was too much noise around the trade possibilities for the Steelers to have absolutely no interest. Why would guys like Adam Schefter be reporting anything at all if there was nothing to it?

Either way, not really worth arguing over considering no one really knows what went down. You agree?

i hope the steelers continue seeking a trade partner for a #2.. relying on an unproven rookie who missed all of training camp to step in and be the #2 is a bit ambitious. the steelers were gung ho for Aiyuk even before Wilson got injured, so they're definitely aware there's a problem.

you may kn ow this, but we will not be a passing juggernaut, not the 2024 Steelers. Nor was the play for the 2022 and 2023 team to be this. This is run first, crush with the run - offense.

Passing is a luxury, a distraction - something to OPEN up the running.

but don't confuse us with the Chiefs or Bills, some other 'passing' offense. Ain't the plan.....

Like I said repeatedly they should have went for the Alec Pierce in Indianapolis. The guy balled out this weekend. Indy is stacked at WR they have Pittman, Downs, Pierce and the rookie. Perhaps they didn’t want to trade him but I think we could have worked something out for him. He would have been the perfect compliment to Pickens, a deep threat and big. Someone who can block and would fit play action and this offense. I just think we should have had more options other than just Aiyuk. The guy would have come cheap on his rookie contract.

You still need the threat of the pass to open the run or they will stack the box all day long. By the way the Bills are no longer a passing juggernaut.

    agreed.

they threw more on first down in the 2nd half.

it was all new, for Fields and a # of other parts, on Sunday.

more will open up, on Sunday.

first play Sunday - I'd send CA3 on a FLY PATTERN bomb! send the memo!

I like your thinking. Put him in motion so he can get off the line and beat press coverage to boot.

I am a little more nervous for Pickens in this next game because they have Surtain and I am sure they will double Pickens. They have to figure out a way to get these other receivers the ball or its going to be a struggle.

Unfortunately, the oline play dictates how many times the TE can run a route. Pat spent a lot of time blocking, something he isn't very good at anyways.

    There now it makes sense

And the fact is the team had 156 yards

Well, with their tough schedule down the stretch they will need more production from the other receivers.

Yes, we do. I'm hoping that the rookie can be the X factor for this offense.

There was something I listened to or watched (won't even try to find it, lol) where the game plan for the game was to avoid the middle of the field because Atlanta has 2 very respected CB's. This perhaps was BS, but we are going to need those routes you mentioned and get more production from Washington and Conner. The limited targets on the first game is not a big concern, but as the year progresses the D's we face are going to be better prepared. As great as it is to have Boz, FG's are not going to get it done, we need to get into the end zone.

    agreed.

getting Warren healthy (for screens), getting Muth downfield more (dare I say MIDDLE of the field?), and getting a designed play or 2 or 3 to other WR's - has to be what Smith is planning. Yes - Chargers, Colts, Jets won't be easy by any stretch, will need to score some TD's.

CA3 can make plays, trust me.

    he and CA3.

Better PLAY CALLING and TEACH Fields how to better read the D. so far in his career, this is his achilles heel. he may never get this. Kordell never really did.

    Russ can already to this,

now - can the OLINE give them the protection is the next question.

pass on first down and run effectively - will be our QB's best friend!!!!

I read that the plan was to avoid MOF because Atlanta has two good safeties, not their CBs.

I don't think Wilson coming back is enough, Art ll said he wants to win in the playoffs then go get another WR at the trade deadline.

Article popped up today about the trade for aiyuk. Apparently they were on the phone finalizing the trade when aiyuk called and signed San Fran’s offer
