This kid is tough and I think he grew up a lot today. I didn’t like a bunch of play calls but he got the win and that’s all that mattered.

he protected the ball, moved the chains enough w his legs, if Pickens was not called for the bogus PI, maybe 7 pts on that drive.

    a solid B for me.

they dumbed down the playbook for him, esp in the first half - that is for sure.

If you look realistically, he did what you expect from your back up. There were jitters in the first half, but he settled and did what was needed. For those looking/expecting/seeking your future number 1, well keep seeking.

I thought he played pretty good. His ability to scramble is a key factor. Threw some nice balls, decision making was OK and did not turn the ball over.

He got stronger as the game went on. Lots of teams looked horrible today. Not making excuses for him but he played fine. Just need to get into the endzone.

Fields played well with how the game unfolded.

Defense was solid as usual. We don’t need Brady-type-performances.

    Agreed 100%.

Lots of people will state he played average. That indeed he did. Now, compare his average today to his "average days" at Chicago. Cannot find an answer?! None to be found. Justin Fields was a roller coaster at Chicago; insane highs with cataclysmic lows.

Today for sure was a major turning point for him. Granted, he still has some of that roller coaster esque type of play in him but not even laughably close to what it was even during his final year at Chicago last season.

Here is hoping he gets better and more consistent as the season progresses.

Not a fan of the running QB but I saw the advantages today.

Most I care about is QB play was a good 5x better than last season.

Much better than Kenny not as good as Mason hopefully Wilson will be better but the D was what won the game. Can not say enough about THE BOZ .

Welp, everyone who claimed he would melt down in the 4th quarter like in Chicago must have been disappointed.

don't see that need yet. there is no real passing game, per se. it's 1 or 2 looks, a quick read or 2, then check down or run.

we are FAR from needing real WR's

Muth, Washington, the screen game, Pickens, get Wilson healthy. There is plenty to work with. there was not even a look or PLAY CALL down field to CA3.

that is b/c the QB is unprepared to do so.......

Fields was fine. Offence understandably rusty and they called a conservative game.

I think Wilson will be an improvement in passing situations and they may start to take a few more risks once he gets in there

Steelers won time of possession. Yes, we need to get in the end zone. But we will be in any game where we win TOP.

I thought he played ok. Just not good enough to feel like he's a long-term option. I need to see a larger sample size and his growth first.

Boz is amazing. right down the middle all day. no flinch.

I suppose Wilson plays next week, but soft tissue is ALWAYS a problem.

Tomlin has his hands full with this one.

Fields gave AS options that Wilson does not.

His ability to move around until we get better up front is a positive.. He was tough ,took some hits.It wasn't pretty but I wasn't expecting to much from him..If Russ comes back I hope he can stay healthy behind this line.

I thought Fields did okay. I don't think he did enough to keep Wilson on the bench if Russ is healthy. But overall Fields was efficient and he protected the ball.

The coach called a good game not exposing Fields. He missed two easy outs. He takes too long on deciding where to go. The defense won us this game with three turnovers. Fields still has not found the End zone. That said, he has a strong arm and his mobility has to be respected. It will be the defense that carries us. I would still go with Russell to see what is left in the tank.

They couldn't string together successive plays because there wasn't a fear of the offense. If they went spread, Atlanta countered with more DB's and muddled it up in close. When the went multiple TE's and clear running sets, you saw Atlanta bring more guys in the box. If they could have made more than just Pickens a threat I think the game unfolds differently. Seemed like the turf was crap today and that Fields was scared to be who he was. Reminds me of when they screwed with Kordell's head about being a pocket passer. They got Fields because of his athletic ability let him work.
