Us restructuring so many contracts of late to get under the cap made sense at the time. It was to hold together a roster that won Superbowls, and it worked. We've been to 3 of them recently, but I think the end of that "dynasty" is here. It's really put us in a bind now, but I can't argue with the results.

We're in cap trouble every season because we keep pushing the problem into the future. We probably HAVE to restructure some guys, but honestly I think we need to keep it at a minimum and start to re-build. If we make tough cuts and extend guys like Big Ben rather than making a ton of restructures, then I think we can set ourselves up to make the final Superbowl push of the Big Ben era.

Steelers fans don't want to hear it because we're used to being consistently successful. But here's a good write up on our situation.

Man my head is spinning! LOL. But of the last few guys he mentioned I say we need to keep Allen and Pouncey for sure. As far as Brown, Heyward, and Gilbert go I can say that I wouldn't miss them too much. Heyward needs to show something and quick. For a 1st rounder he has not lived up to it. Allen actually seems like he's got some ball skills so I feel pretty good about him going forward.

they assume alot in these scenario's. maybe we don't re-sign ziggy. maybe we don't re-sign dwyer or batch or redman or mclendon or sylvester. are they really who we want to give our money to for the future? this will have to be decided. i don't think some of these RFA's have really earned another payday. are they really can't be without players for our future?

i still see us having alot of udfa's making up our squad in the next year at several positions and eating up some of the dead money. if we don't tender some of these players next year, we will fill their spots with new untested players, but we may not be losing all that much at those positions. date's also come back to bite us. we have to be compliant before the date we could save the most in cutting people june 1. thats where alot of trouble is. it will be interesting to see what happens.

In reading the comments, the writer says he doesn't see the team spending 1.3 million to sign Redman and so thinks he'll be gone. With Raney also gone, they will like draft a RB in the first few rounds. If Dwyer could stay healthy and on the field, he could have the potential to be be a solid player. But I'm not sold that he is our starting RB of the future. Maybe short yardage and change of pace back.

Heyward has had less time, and a lot less playing time, to show anything. Next year I would expect to see him starting, and then we'll see if he can anchor the line in the way he was picked to do.

trouble is they will have to spend the same for dwyer.

i saw something last night on espn. they were talking about the steelers and this mess, saying we are around 13 mil. over the cap right now. they also said they expect the same thing i have been saying. we will see cuts and none of our FA's would even be given offers.

they also said none of them were difference makers at least enough for us to want to sign them back, as i have said. they said maybe if there was one it would be max. that i totally disagree with.

they also went on to say we would see a team on the cheap next year as i have been saying, alot of udfa manning positions. i don't think we have much choice but to do that. our draftee's will be playing most likely, so i wouldn't expect any project players. we will go after the most ready to play players at several spots i believe.
