If Wilson wants to continue to be a starter in the league he better ball out, because if it goes like it did with Denver this could be it.

The bar is not set high. If he is as good as Mason last year, the guy who started the season as QB3, we will go far.

And this is a very important season for Wilson for his chances to be in the HOF and I think he know that too!

The best case scenario is that he does the Kurt Warner thing and takes a new team to the Super Bowl a decade after his first Super Bowl after seemingly being washed up and discarded. Not a common occurrence, but not unprecedented or impossible either. Anyone remember the middle of Warner’s career when he was a NY Giant?

True. I don't expect him to light it up right away, but we don't need him to be the reincarnation of Ben (or even his old self). He just needs to be able to give us roughly 240 yards a game, be able to put 22-24 points a game up on the board, and not be a turnover machine. If he can manage to do that, we are easily a playoff team, and likely a scary team to face in the post season.

I don't think He will even have to be that in most cases. Just don't turn the ball over, take what they give him. If they play us the way they played us last year with Pickett, and Trubisky, and I don't know that they will , or won't, but if they do....there will be plenty of opportunities.

They may start out that way... I would expect opposing defenses to try to force us to beat them through the air. If Wilson can punish at all, then the run game will loosen up and we will be a very balanced attack. Pickett didn't punish and Rudolph did for a 2 game stretch... We got to see what that looked like (and it looked like real NFL offense). Lets hope that Wilson can make them pay if they load the box.

The Steelers don’t have the #1 defense in the league

We still need two more CBs, but we will be a top 5 without any significant injuries IMO

    Yes

    Very much

Arch disagrees he bases defenses on third and long completion and not points

Personally I thing less points scored by the other team is most important

I maybe too optimistic, (not much of a sample size) but if Russ can (manage this offense)
and be protective of the ball, with our defense and hopefully running game and special teams
we can be right up there at the end.

It's a combination of both those things. If you're giving up a lot of 3rd and longs, it keeps the Steelers offense off the field, and the defense on it longer. Not something you want to do on a consistent basis. It's great being able to limit your opponents points, but you have to be able to score some yourself. That's the most important factor in my perspective, but you're not going to win a lot of games scoring only 17-20 points in this league these days. The defense has been good at bending but not breaking, but you can't expect them to carry you week after week like they have been

When I'm watching a Steeler game and the other team is facing a 3rd and 2, I feel pretty confident that we will stop them. But if it is 3rd and 16 I'm thinking damn we're screwed.

I like the way you keep deflecting the fact they have a very good defense to some other conversation

When I had to reprimand employees this was a common tactic

We will see what kind of scrambling abilities Wilson has if our O line does not gel. If given enough protection then Wilson could have a successful year. I still dont think that we win a game in the playoffs. I would just be happy to make the playoffs.

Even if Russell Wilson isn't the same QB, do any of you honestly think he's just going to be incompetent now?
