I've always said this! I live outside of Pittsburgh, I know we could handle hosting a superbowl without a doubt! In the article it lists everything we have hosted, but we have also had countless movies being shot here the last few years, and every star loves Pittsburgh. We are complemented on how welcoming we are, how nice the city is. I'm so sick of the superbowls bouncing between Arizona, miami, tampa bay, new orleans, and then the domes in indianapolis, detroit, and where ever else. But it figures the New York gets the game next year, just because its New York. Pittsburgh is the birthplace of football, its where the 1st game was ever played. That alone deserves to host a superbowl.

Could you imagine if it was the Browns or Ravens and they had their name painted on our field? No thanks.I'd be suprised if they had it in an outdoor stadium like Pittsburgh. Some of the celeberties might get cold.

next year is in Met Life stadium in east rutherford, NJ and its an open stadium? It was 33 degrees there this past sunday, and 26 here in Pittsburgh. Not too much of a difference. And it would be all more the motivation for us to keep the Ravens or the Browns name off our field.

And I hope it is nasty below zero and an ice storm. No reason to have a cold weather SB, NONE!

It would be sweet but I doubt that it would ever happen. I could see San Diego or Denver hosting one before they let Pittsburgh.

What I would like to see though is for Pittsburgh to play in NYC next year and have the weather be brutally cold.

We seem to go when there is a new place hosting one i.e. Detroit, and Dallas...Hopefully we add NY to the list and the Bus celebrates his HOF induction as he watches his former team in the Superbowl

As long as it's a success next year, meaning there's no blizzard that would make travel impossible, then more cold weather stadiums will follow and I see no reason Pittsburgh won't host it one day. And it would be awesome. My one reservation when I first heard cold weather stadiums pitched as SB sites was that you want the 2 teams to be able to perform at optimum efficiency and warm weather or domed stadiums allow for that. But after having time to think about it, who cares, both teams have to deal with the same elements and it's FOOTBALL! You're subjected to cold and bad weather throughout the year, get over it. I was at my first Steeler game a couple seasons ago and it was FREEZING, mid December and I was outside from 9 in the morning to 9 at night and it was awesome! So you have to deal with the cold for a little while, who cares.

Its not fair warm weather cities get to cash in though? Think of how much revenue could come to the 'burgh with a Superbowl? God knows NYC doesn't need the revenue, but cities in the AFC north sure could.

Cowherd on ESPN was saying when the SB was in Jacksonville, the city wasn't even equipped to accommodate everyone. So why go to cities in warm climate who don't even deserve it?

Honestly what would have been the smartest is if all the teams in the north installed retractable roofs when they were building their new stadiums.......

Football is meant to be played outdoors in inclimate weather. Only recently has it catered to the elite that want to sip on their chardonea's, eating cocktail shrimp and sitting in their cozie room temperature seats paying outrageous prices so that the casual middle income die hard fan cannot attend. I feel the only chance of me seeing a SB is if there happens to be subfreezing temps where the snobs all stay home and I can find a ticket relatively cheap. Plus I'd love to see a halftime show where it's about 5 below and sleeting. Beyonce would have been on the phone with her agent crying to scrap it and just show videos instead.

No reason to have a cold weather SB? I disagree. The money generated by the game is reason enough.

I don't get the negativity towards a cold weather bowl, some of the best games have been in the snow. Why is it good enough to play in the cold most of the season but the SB is off limits, it's silly.

Heinz Field only has capacity of 66,000 which ranks 25th out of the 32 NFL Venues, The Steelers want to increase capacity by 8,000 seats in the south endzone and add another video screen in the north end zone. But, it's court now over who is paying and such. If that happens it might be a big maybe that the Super Bowl could be played in Pittsburgh, but as it stands no way it happens Heinz Field isn't a large enough to get the Super Bowl along with the cold being there as well.

The article says that after they raise the seating capacity to 68,000 seats as planned, that it would only be 3,000 shy of the Superdome which of course just hosted the SB.

The SB is the largest sporting event in America. I know people who don't watch football all season, and they watch the SB. No matter where it's held, people will flock to it, it will raise tons of money for which ever city it is held, and weather should not be a discouragement. When football first came about do you think weather was ever in the players or coaches or whomever was involved concerns? They would all be laughing at us for even having this conversation as whether football's biggest game should be played in the elements. Why is it okay for teams to travel and play in the elements during the playoffs and the conference championship games (which gets you into the biggest game if you win) but not the SB? Each team would be on a level playing field, they each have to play in the same elements and arrive early to be able to practice there too. I know I'd go to any SB where ever its at no matter the weather

I think capacity is one of the biggest hurdles for a Super Bowl hosted at Heinz Field.

    No thanks.

I sat in the stands for 5 NFL games this year in which my hands involuntarily were shaking because I was so damned cold. Oh, and most of those games were played in November, not February. It sucks. It might be cool to watch, but it sucks to be at. I think it's annoying they even hold the big game at P.O.S. cities like Detroit and Indianapolis just because they have a dome. Nobody wants to travel to these cities for a Super Bowl. NYC is different because, well . . . it's NYC. But, all things considered, I'd still rather be in California, Phoenix, Houston, New Orleans, or Florida.

Dude a Super Bowl in the snow would be AWESOME!!! That would be football like we've always thought of it in our mind. Men going out in the snow and cold and braving the elements to play the game. I've sat in VERY cold weather watching the Steelers and I LOVED it! When I go to Pittsburgh I always WANT it to be cold. I'm actually a very cold natured person but I just enjoy going to football games in cold weather. A Super Bowl played in the snow would be legendary! I hope with everything in my body that it turns out to be snowing in New York during that Super Bowl and I hope we are in it because if so I will be there!

The NFL has already said no more SBs here in San Diego because the stadium doesn't seat enough. SB in Denver? In Feb.? Talk about a cold weather game!

I would love for them to get rid of the neutral site all together. Best record has home field... just like the rest of the playoffs. Most of the other sports play on a teams home court.
