I hope He gets it. It would be an awesome boon for us, but for some to believe a Guy that has played since He was around 9 years old, or younger....., and hasn't got it yet in 16 years, but He will somehow all of a sudden get it now....is wishful thinking.

A couple things here. I watched a tv show on netflix about Nascar. Alot of those guys practiced via VR in fact one of the younger drivers on the circuit first started out perfectng his skills via race car gaming or vr driving. These guys have the most advanced spacial recognition and hand eye coordination in the world probably with the exception of maybe fighter pilots. Why not find out how they hone these skills if you’re a QB in the NFL. A lot of the Edge players and Offensive Lineman work with boxing coaches to hone their punch etc. so why don’t QB’s work on the most important element of their game? I think the mechanics of throwing the football and footwork are all important but none of that matters if you can’t see the field and go through your progressions quickly and accurately. Thats why you see physically inferior or less talented QB’s succeed over more gifted athletic QB’s all the time. Big Ben was superior too Brady in nearly if not every physical aspect of the game, but Brady could process quicker and more accurately. I don’t think anybody would argue that Brady was the better QB.

Another thing, I read about how Jayden Daniels improved his ability to the read the field and progress through routes by using a VR system that was developed down at LSU. He attributed it, to helping him tremendously. If I am Justin Fields, I am calling up LSU and finding out how I can use what they developed. If I am the Steelers I am seeing if I can buy what they developed and incorporating it into a daily training routine for my QB’s.

How are they not doing this stuff? The organization is nearly a billion dollar entity generating multi millions a year in revenue with the QB position being the most important position to the success of the organization. Make it make sense on why they aren’t doing these kinds of things.

Better yet why hasn’t some kid from CMU figured out how to put this technology together and market it to the Steelers and other NFL teams?

I guess they would rather invest in robot tackling dummies (which I think are of very limited use).

If his first read is covered it's take off. Yea, he is improving

I mean i'm not a coach but I would have a list of his shortcomings and work, work, work on these. I don't see improvement. I see the same characteristic's of why they gave up on him and we got him for a sawbuck. But it was all the Bears fault.

He's an athlete. They all are athletes. He's a talent. Its a FUMBLE!

I don't want a gimmick. I want s pocket QB who scans the field if so if everything is covered they take off. Not the 1st read is covered i'll take off.

    I don't want a Lamar.

To add another VR training implement.. baseball has a headset to simulate batting against any pitcher out there.

Love, love, love what JT is putting down here!

And for those of you saying it's just preseason, that's all the more reason to be able to complete some of these throws that are wide open. At about 9 minutes, where JT analyzes the "Shock" route is right! Look at the pre-snap on that play. 3 receivers to left and 2 defenders (eyes are in to the QB, shoulders fairly square to LOS, medium depth) over them. The inside defender is also splitting the difference between receivers #2 and #3! That defender chooses to stay (post snap). He never opens up, never bails, never sends his eyes to the receiver...this is straight up zone cov.. #2 receiver runs the seam route (WIDE open) and should be the throw immediately after he sees that defender stay static (not moving). Instead, JF throws to the inside hitch to #3! This is fine, if the defender trailed the seam receiver (was in a man to man d), but that was not the case.

I will tell you right now, JF was not reading anything there, he is just throwing to the safest route! There's a reason why defenses are willing to give up certain routes and not give up others (like seams, deep posts, corner routes and fades). But when it's there, you gotta hit it!

    Great stuff JT!

Eff the hate talk! Those people apparently don't want the team to improve. People like you, others and myself, that will call it as you see and can see the glaring holes in the franchise. People who speak up care and want to get better!

    Never apologize for that!

Fields, IMO, reminds me of Kordell Stewart! That was a complete failure on the great Bill Cowher's tenure. Both are very talented physically but do not understand the overall concepts in the passing game.

We keep Mason and he executes this offense big time. He stands tall in the pocket and makes the right reads and on time. Justin wants to bail too quick after not going through bus progressions or throwing with any anticipation or vision whatsoever.

Why are we wasting our time with Justin Fields. I get it there is temptation there but we haven’t shown the aptitude to develop QB’s so why do we think we would be any different with him. It’s like dating a fat girl with a pretty face. If you can just get her to put down the Doritos she will be a ten. There will always be that temptation of what could be.

Fields is a long shot, but a shot worth taking now that we have Arthur Smith as OC. He has all the physical talent to be very good, if only he can learn how to play the game. Plus, the price was right, they don't really have much to lose if he doesn't pan out

I don't know about big time, but I do agree that if He was here our offense, as of now, would look better. Doesn't mean we won't get better, or be better.

Hilarious movie. Don’t like Jack Black but he was funny in that movie. They don’t make comedies like that anymore.
