Everyone keeps saying, it's preseason! This doesn't matter! It kinda does. What kind of coaching are these guys getting? Discipline? Do they know their assignments? Do they have physical/mental toughness? Or do they s#1t the bed!

Everything you are seeing, is straight up a reflection of the HC!

 

Looks like he had the QB but his other responsibility was the RB and just let the RB go free. Looks like anything more than cover this guy or come downhill, he gets lost in his head.

 

I've been saying for 10 years that I don't think Steelers practice much of what they do on game day. Obviously they show up to practice so they can get paid, but there seems to be massive lack of discipline and confusion on game days.

 

Here's the thing, Lions did the same thing last week against the Chiefs.

We saw what a defense without 3 of it's starters did to them before they went to what is essentially the 3's. These guys aren't getting all the reps in practice.

 

There is NO way, that either of these QBs (RW or JF) make it through the entire season. Read option in the NFL is very difficult to execute. Those defenses are too fast and smart. Fields is a great athlete but so are all 11 guys on the opponent's defense! Some are better by a long shot!

JT Daniels was also right on his breakdown of the last game, when he said, "I don't even think that play was blocked correctly" (referring to a Read Option play with JF). If you have 2 guys closing on the ball immediately after the mesh, you are dead! Someone is not being blocked. Just sloppy

 

YES! I see it in the starters too! It's what they are coached to do. No reroutes by CB's or LBs on receivers off the line! DL flying up field and over running angles so the BC just goes underneath. Poor angles taken and sloppy arm tackling or trying to get a KO hit without wrapping up! That's just the defense lol

It is baffling how SOME "professional" coaches do not use these basic fundamentals!

 

Hello all!! Sorry I am late. Was working at my second job!! Work has been picking up quite a bit lately!


I heard Nick Herbig has done well. What of Broderick?! How has he looked?!

 

I said the same thing about Wilson. At least Fields can run, so he has a better chance of surviving

 

Starting o-line looked great. Didn't hear Jones' name at all, so I'll take that as a positive.

 

That was a blatant hold.

 

Oh, yeah AQL. Nick Herbig all but blew up one Lions offensive series on his own. It was fun to watch.

 

Why did it look like one of the Steelers linemen had a cover on his helmet

One thing about ALL football practices is there are; Individuals (every individual position has time with their individual coaches) and ALL of them get both physical and mental reps. If they are not, that is on that coach! They also do situations: 2 minute, 3rd long, 4th short, etc! They do Team. There is a scout team that is in for both O and D against the other side of the ball's 1s and 2s! Then there's film study! And position meetings!!

There is zero excuse for not knowing and practicing your; technique, scheme, etc every single day. Again, if every guy on the team is not getting some kind of reps of any kind or "don't know" their position technique.

These guys are using the techniques/scheme they have studied and been taught in their program.

Please don't use the excuse like these guys have not gotten reps. They may be minimal but that's what this is, competition. You make the most of your opportunity. These guys are doing what they are coached! Period!!

Wait till they play a starting defense! ANY starting D in the NFL. It will be ugly. Tomlin will have his first "losing" season!
