What is likely going to happen is that Fautanu will start Game One while Moore is still going to be the starter manning the Blind Side. That leaves the team with a Top 20 player playing the swing tackle role in Broderick Jones. In all reality, this should have been solved during Jones' rookie season in which the team should have let the likes of Dan Moore and Broderick Jones compete for the starting LT spot as opposed to having that competition with Chuks and Jones.

Now as it stands, there isn't another RT option currently available on the team; Spencer Anderson included. He is supposed to be a full time Guard but even he saw action in multiple spots in the last outing. Due to this, Broderick Jones is now essentially in limbo; a very talented but very raw player severely hurt by the teams lack of a plan. Many will place the blame on Pat Meyer. I am not for it is way too early to tell how efficient Arthur Smith's Offense will be in comparison to Matt Canadas. Given how an OC plays a major factor in both run blocking and pass protection schemes, Meyer's Coaching Performance is more incomplete than others are willing to admit.

Regarding the whole planning of this?! This all falls on Tomlin. $10 states that Tomlin will make Broderick the starting Left Tackle either during or after the bye week. Broderick is clearly injured and, even if it was a minor hinderance, has regressed.

Again the fact Dotson improved dramatically when he went to the Rams would certainly suggest that. In addition when other players on the team continue to not improve or have problems at a certain point you have to oook at the common denominator.

Ben didn’t hold the ball in the latter half of his career. He was one of the fastest at getting it out. Not only that but the Suoerbowl against AZ we had a bad line and Ben made them look better than they were. It goes both ways.

Yep, and we'll still have Fautanu trying to figure out RT and some sucky vet playing LT. LT Timmy Turnstile and RT Broken Fautanu...and perpetual HC Totalfail Tomlin.
I can't wait for the year/decade he finally freaking retires. Obviously Rooney has NO balls at all, fears repercussion of firing a HC that hasn't won a game of substance in 7 years.

...and I bet Pat Meyer is promoted to Assistant Head Coach and OL coach emeritus.
I can't wait till we have an OL improve. It'll be the first under Meyer. He shouldn't be allowed to coach pee-wee, much less aspiring NFL linemen. I couldn't do any worse and I played OG when I was 93 lbs in a 126 lb league.

WHY do the Steelers coaches WANT all their OL to play out of position? 90% of us fans would have planted Jones at LT first game last year, and figured out a suitable RT.
We would have drafted a true RT this year, even if it meant getting #7 or 8 rated one in round 3 or 4.

That or don't draft B Jones in 2023 and draft someone you DO plan to play at their natural position. First round is NOT the round to turn a high-ceiling talent into an immediate unforced project.

Mike Tomlin...Steeler football killer. He'll make the Hall of Fame, for about 10 other teams (Patriots already have him enshrined in secret...their best weapon when facing the Steelers).

I hope Khan is as mad as I am and already writing up the HCMT dismissal press release. PLEASE! And package him with Meyer ASAP.

Hold the phone.... I am pretty sure that last year Moore and Jones were competing in training camp for the LT position. Then during the season Chuks got benched and because Dan Moore can't play RT to save his life, Broderick Jones, who was then the swing tackle, was promoted to starting RT.

Does he possibly have a nagging injury that maybe not reported on that he is trying to play thru?
He was coming along at end of last year. Might need to screw his brain on and rededicate himself?

it's not the Steelers coaches with an S - it is Mike Tomlin. Tomlin is the center piece of all this mess.

But Rooney does not care nor see it.

here we are, Steelers football, current ERA.

FIRE THE OWNER (that is a joke of course - what i mean is SELL THE TEAM)

have you looked at the team around dotson for the rams? quite the star studded group out there. franchise qb. good linemen around him. great WR's. good RB's. pretty nice situation to walk into. i really don't think he was the it player that made the rams so good last year. they are not too far removed from being in the super bowl. here not so much.

Not that I want him to be hurt, but I will feel a hell of a lot better if there is an actual explanation for how horrible he has been.

If Jones is going to keep wearing that brace and can't block effectively, him sitting on the bench to start the season might be a good thing.

Yeah, because that's worked so well with the Chargers! N/A since I don't live anywhere near Pittsburgh.

Yes. It’s not that Jones is bad at RT. He’s proven that he’s pretty damn good at it. Something physically seems to be wrong. Let wait and see. Still have a few weeks to right the ship

Every baseball season I hope the Pirate faithful will stop supporting that cheap ass owner but they continue to line his pockets. The Chicago White Sox are 30-95** and they still have fans show up.

** There is a saying in MLB that every team wins 50 games and loses 50 games which is true 99% of the time. No way the White Sox win 50 games.

Looking like another 1st round bust. Jamain Stephens in 1996 was the last 1st round bust on OL, IIRC.

well it's pretty simple. he hurt his elbow and that's why he's wearing a brace. part of the problem but not all of it. he plays too high and lets guys get inside him or knock his hands down. do you think those things will change at LT? do yall really think that is the problem?

That's a Tomlin thing. He likes multi-postional players because it offers flexibility. Unfortunately during his tenure I can't recall any of them being a master at one skill and above average on others. They were/are jack of all trades master of none. Johnson, Davis, Russell, Roger's, Ebron, Batch, Summers, Hood, Logan.....

The only Swiss army knife player they had that was any good was M. Moore and he that well before Tomlin got him.

was a good article. he is far from a bust - (yet). had a good campaign last year. he is young. a big question is about his injury - what is it, how serious, etc.

and get him where he belongs, at LT.

That 1st sack he gave up to Rousseau it looked like he jumped back before the ball snapped and had his balance wrong. If he only had one good arm for leverage it was going to be a long night.
