Watch him dominante at the LT position with his next team like Dotson....

Nobody was comparing Dotson to Faneca, etc but the point he was much better with the rams because of coaching and playing at the right position.....Funny how the bad habits he had in Pittsburgh was no longer a problem with the rams,I guess coaching matter!....Playing at your natural position matter too,Dotson was great in the four game as the RG starter in 2020 with us as rookie in the games that Decastro was out

This is not just Dotson....Green was no longer unplayable with Houston last season and don't be surprise if Okafor has his best season with the pats

Seems like the injury is definitely effecting him and he shouldn’t even be out there. If that’s the case just sit him until he is ready

Even still this is a huge concern. We were all hoping the Oline would take a step forward allowing the run game and play action to open up the offence. Broderick would need to improve beyond recognition for that to happen now.

I don’t know enough about coaching and technique etc to say what the issue is but the team has invested heavily in the Oline at this stage and it’s time to see some results. Blaming it on Meyer is probably too simplistic but at the same time I’m surprised they didn’t take the opportunity to replace him when Smith came in.

meyer didn't coach dotson his first year. dotson was hurt and not coached by meyer his second year. he was coached by meyer his 3rd year and started here. maybe the coaching of meyer helped him in his play for the rams.

moore looked good last night. cook at the left tackle spot looked good last night. anderson looked good at the right tackle spot last night. frazier has looked good. they are coached by meyer. just because a guy is a first round pick doesn't mean he will always play like it. if he's hurt, play someone else. very simple.

i agree. munch didn't do much for denver though. he ain't here now. dotson was essentially in his 3rd year since he missed a full year. usually when the light goes on for players.

yes we have invested heavily on the o-line but both 1st rounders are hurt. put in our backups that seem to be playing fine.

Bad day at the office. Also he is hurt. Why can't Dan Less play the right side? The juggle back and forth has not helped Jones. I feel he stepped in last season and played pretty well. Hopefully the @ss kicking he got yesterday motivates him. But make no mistake he belongs on the left side.

I don’t think Connor is a good example. I love his story and he is a hard worker, but he is the same back in Arizona as he was with us.

Who is on your list of examples that keeps piling up? I would be curious how many had sustained success at their next team, following their tenure with the Steelers.

I would agree that Dotson was a miss and maybe even Spillane. Certainly there are some other names out there that might become that way, but those are just speculation at this point.

Agree - he gets a pass in my opinion. The brace is probably an issue, along with a question of is he even 100 percent.

I will withhold judgement on the oline until the first few regular season games. I will be especially interested in who is starting where when the season starts.

In the meantime, preseason is what it is.

completely different players as well. munch wasn't too good his first year here either. we also saw how quickly a guard can go from really good to bad in decastro. munch had him at really good along with pouncey. not all schemes are the same and not all players fit every scheme.

yes - we / he knows that, but that does make it his natural position.

he is 'out of position' , if you will......

But he isn’t committing those penalties in LA. Must be coaching and development.

The first year of Munchack with us was in 2014 and the o-line had major improvement that year

Your missing the whole point. The example of Dotson is more about the coaches on the Steelers than it is Dotson. I read somewhere that New England was thrilled to get the RT from us because they felt we didn’t develop him and had him playing out of position.

Decastro regressed because of injury. Poor pass blocking on the edge has absolutely nothing to do with scheme. It is all about fundamentals, coaching and development.

I think Munchak was a good coach, but I wonder about the reverence that some fans have for him.

You are right, the line did improve in 2014, but the Steelers played almost all of 2013 without their all pro-center (Pouncey).

When Munchak arrived he had Beachum (LT), Foster and Decastro (Guards), and Pouncey at Center. I guess my point is Munchak had a heck of a lot more to work with.

I don’t care for our oline coach either, but we have finally invested more in the oline (like we did with Pouncey, Decastro, etc). It will be interesting to see what happens.

and in 2015,the steelers were again without Pouncey for the entire season,Beachum was out for the rest of the season after week 6 replaced by a UDFA who become a very good LT for us under Munchack but the offensive line was still elite despite this

When he was the o-line coach in Tennesse for so many years, their o-line were among the best almost every year too

BEN made our OLINE look much better at times, than it was. Plus some other stud skill players to go with that!

but many times, we struggled to get to 20 points a week.

but sure - in huge large part - COACHING MATTERS!!!!

33 sacks 2014 and 2015. Would 2 a game be ok with you? 33 in 16 games for 2 years in a row, with a franchise qb. Last year we had 36 in 17 games without a franchise qb. Just a little perspective.

Dotson's penalties are on him I don't care if he was playing the wrong position, I doubt Green is going to be a long time starter in the league.

Sacks don't always tell the story...In 2020, the o-line was bad even if the o-line had only given like 15 sacks in the entire season since Ben was getting rid of the ball so quickly that it was like a hot potato for him and he didn't let the play develop at that time

If the steelers give up less than 40 sacks this year, that would be great because of Wilson and Fields hold the ball very long during their career...But with the way the o-line is right now, 70 sacks given is more likely that less that 40 because of the bad o-line and also the QB holding the ball very long
