It’s not just about their performances in this game, however their performances served as confirmation to what alot of us were already fearing. The issue is they constantly try to force guys into positions that aren’t suited for them. Green at Center Rookie year. Dotson at Left Guard instead of Right Guard. Now they are playing musical chairs with Broderick Jones. They keep repeating the same pattern over and over. I am not confident in their assessment of who the best fit is where at this point. Who actually is a better fit at Left Tackle? Is it Jones or Fautanu? Jones is still very green and were moving him all over the place. That can’t be good for his development. I hope they get it figured out and position these guys to play to the best of their abilities.

Allen didn't play against the Texans first team defense, he also threw a bad pass to Austin in the endzone.

Ruling? The defender is engaged with McCormick high. Frazier blocks him below the waist from the side. Legal or Illegal?

Ever since Munch left it has been a complete Joke on the O-Line. Pat Meyer has been a disaster for the Steelers since arriving. Don't get me wrong the 3 hires of Sarrett, Morgan and Klemm were no better remember Trae Turner at RG, forcing Dotson to move to left.

I am concerned with the continual development of Broderick Jones.

Feels way too much a la Kevin Dotson as it stands already. Troy Fautanus injury has only magnified this worry.

Good news is Troy is out only a week.

I'm also not a fan of habitually flipping Brod from side to side. Sooner he stays on the left, the better.

Seems like Frazier is progressing quite well thus far. I tend to think Daniels will be traded before the season starts tho.

Well since Dan Less can't play on the right side unfortunately Jones will have to man the right. I am concerned about Fautanu sitting even after he is cleared. I can see Tomlin doing that and keeping his boy Dan Less in there. Mistake.

I hope not. need that vet presence next to Frazier and when Fautanu mans the right side. Danials is solid.

I'm not a fan of that either. He just seems like a piece to be traded for a WR. I'd prefer to sign Daniels long term.

    My thoughts exactly.

From not letting Kevin Dotson stay in his natural position to the complete mismanagement of the Offensive Line for two years straight from 2021-2022, Tomlin has done a porous job of properly developing Offensive Lineman by giving them the best chance possible. Fitting a square peg into a round hole simply isn't the way. People placing 100% of the blame or close to it on Pat Meyer is very short sighted and unfair no less; doubly so with the Mike Munchak comparisons.

Meyer was handed a literal mess of a mess when he came to Pittsburgh in 2022. Who was on the Roster at the time that is still on the roster currently?! James Daniels and Dan Moore; that is it. Mason Cole is gone while both Kendrick Green and Kevin Dotson were traded; both of those two having much better success while Cole is out of a job currently. As for Daniels and Moore, one is one of the most underrated Guards in all of Football while the other was in dire need of an actual Offensive Line Coach heading into his second season. Daniels would go on to progress under Munchak while Meyer has done nothing but regress under Meyer. Fast forward to 2023; Broderick Jones, an Offensive Tackle playing out of position and Spencer Anderson... AKA Mr. Do It All. Broderick did much better than many had thought given his Left Tackle background and severe lack of experience while Spencer Anderson beat the odds to secure a spot on the Final 53. Today?! Broderick clearly has improved but still needs some work and Spencer Anderson has gotten much better after solidifying one spot.

Munchak had the likes of Pouncey, DeCastro, Foster and Marcus Gilbert already on the team. Big Al was both a fantastic find along with being a great developmental piece but much of the framework had already been done by the time Munchak got to Pittsburgh. Now, Big Al was indeed done by Munchak but Pouncey, Gilbert, Foster and DeCastro all had the talent to be either Pro Bowl to All Pro capable long before Munchak entered the fray.

In short?! Meyer has made a miracle out of a mess while Munchak was given a literal pot of gold. This isn't accounting for the Offensive Coordinators each had to work with either; a Coaching Position that plays HEAVILY into how Offensive Line Coaches teach their unit how to block.

It takes 2 to tango, maybe Munchak didn't want to coach?

I like what Danials brings to the table but he will get paid much more then the Steelers would dish out. Plus he has already been told that their would be no contact talks. He is a solid vet presence helping Frazer who I believe will be the opening day starter. Plus when hopefully Fautanu gets in there on the right you need that solid vet presence to help. McCormick will ease right in next season or could take over if and injury occurs.

The whole wide receiver thing to me is played out. To me the most important positions are both the Offensive and Defensive Lines. You keep the seasoned vet to help the rooks. They have to address the Defensive Line in 2025 this is also why i'm against giving away multiple picks for Ayick in 2025. They will have to look at possibly drafting a QB in the 1st then adding Defensive Line in the 2nd. We should have a comp 3rd rounder as well.

It all starts up front in the Trenches.

From Colbert completely ignoring the OL in his last drafts, to poor OL coaches, to a complete moron at OC, to Tomlin/whomever insisting on playing the wrong guys in the wrong positions, the OL has been a total mess. Omar and Andy have greatly improved the talent on hand and it's better than anything we've had in a long time. If the coaching staff can't make a decent OL now, they should all be fired.

Dan Moore should not be starting. Herbig is not a Center. Jones should've been put at LT the day he was drafted and allowed to stay there for 12 years. And so on.

Tomlin is also to blame. But who is responsible for where the players play? Is it the position coach or the head coach?

Tomlin is to BLAME for MOST of our problems.

many here still don't see it, that IS the problem. ROONEY is #1 to BLAME for it all.

yes - there is OLINE concern. there should be.

#1 area of concern, along w WR. I think they fix WR w Aiyuk, this week.

but yes - lots to be concerned about with OLINE right now. YOUTH being #1. Coaching and lack of continuity adding to that.

The OL has blown chunks and been inconsistent since DeCastro, Pouncey and Villanueva retired or moved on. Nothing new here.

It's easier to win a Super Bowl with a good O-line and average skill players, than it is with an inconsistent OL and above average skill players. See Patriots dynasty and Steelers wins in '05 and '08.
