How many games will he be good for?

Will he change his workout habits to try and see more playing time?

Will he cash in on some more commercials?

Can he still be a dominant difference maker?

Would you put him on the trading block?

    Thoughts?

I dont think he will train different. his presence makes him a difference maker. even if its just by reputation. I dont think he is worth much on the trading block. what you have to ask is what would you want in return. I would take no less than a 2 rd pick or multiple 3rds. i dont think anyone will offer that. the reason so high is because if he does come back healthy and is normall he is worth more than that. funny thing is if steelers trade him and he goes somewhere and plays like troy can. they look stupid and would take a beating on here.lol

I really think it would depend on what team would offer. But considering this is a deep safety class in the draft. Wrong time to trade.

At this point Troy is getting up there , I'm not sure if it matters what his training regimen is: His body is starting to break down form all the hits.

Troy said this is the best he has felt at the end of a season in a long time so we'll see.

As great as he is, I feel we got half a career from him, he was poised to have a huge year in 2009 and it just hasn't been the same since then, missing all this time.

I agree. Teams know he's dangerous. They also know he's frequently injured. Nobody would trade much for an old injury-prone player. But what they know is that when he's on the field he can make magic happen. Even if 9/10 plays he's ballsing it up, that one play could be the gamechanger.

Troy retires a Steeler. No doubt.

Will he change his workout habits to try and see more playing time? Yes, already said he is joining Ike this year.

Will he cash in on some more commercials? Yes, why wouldn't he? Doesn't affect anything.

Can he still be a dominant difference maker? Yes, saw him resembling his old self at the end of the season, just needs to be healthy.

Would you put him on the trading block? NFW

yea, age has a funny way of taking it's toll. i don't think troy working out wiyh ike's trainer is going to rejuvinate him back to the player he was in his prime. just to many injuries. they take their toll on the body. he will still show flashes and in his mind he can still do the things he used to, but not as often and he won't bounce back from them as fast as before.

He is basically a part timer so if he wants to stay
lets pay him part time wages. Out of his 8 or 9 years in the league
I will bet he has missed half of those.
Unreliable can't depend on him anymore.

I was actually encouraged by his play at the end of the season. He was starting to look like the old Troy. I think (and hope like crazy) that Troy is back and better than ever in 2013!

Exactly. He can definitely still play at a high level, he's going to be 32 next season, not 40, all he needs to do is stay healthy and if a new regime can help with that then I think Troy will be a force next season.

Their's bigger fish to fry here than 43..he was looking more like self at the end of the season he will come back strong. As to the commericals no distraction ref. his performance. Troy is a vet he knows his priorities. Troy @ 70% will outplay most at full throttle. Health was the issue, some saying pay cut really? If he doesn't perform in 2013 then i may agree! He's done much for Pittsburgh yet some are so qiuck to forget!

the very end of the season, like the last game. it's not always just physical age but age and amount of hits in those years and injuries in those years. troy didn't sit on the bench for years before playing here or at USC. ike going to his trainer mostly injury free and troy going there with all his injury history is quite different. that's all i'm saying. we hope for the same thing every year from troy as far as this is the year he returns to form. troy at 70% at 32 or 33 is not the same as troy at 70% at 25 or 26. big difference.

We will never see eye to eye on the topic of age, he's still only 32 no matter how it's looked at. Ben's only 31 but there are people who feel he only has a few years left while several other QB's who sustained the same amount of hits played to their late 30's. Troy is only 32 but he's older then that because he didn't sit on the bench for years and played college. Troy just needs to stay healthy and he can play at a high level still. I think it's possible that Troy can be aided by a better conditioning program, like when he hurt his achilles, all he did was dive into the air to reach the end zone, why did that injury occur? I'm not a strength and conditioning coach, I have no idea how this stuff works but that seems like an injury that might not have occurred if he had a better regime.

i agree and wish he would have started it years ago. as far as the qb's, i don't remember elway injured near as much with those hits. it's not always the hits but the injuries sustained from those hits. guys are never 100% after injuries. they multiply, they add scar tissue, they add artheritis, they do take their toll. that's all. nobody wants troy to be troy again more then i do. or ben playing until he's 40, but realisticly it's a long shot. the average NFL career is 4 years. ben and troy are going into their 10th or 11th. lots of damage has been done already.

It will take Troy and a whole lot of Fred Biletnikoff's special blend! ;)

If Troy can stay healthy I really feel pretty good about our secondary the next couple of years. If we can re-sign Lewis and with the step forward that Cortez Allen took this year, Lake has a pretty solid secondary to work with.
