latest USMNT debacle

Team USA failed to get out of the group stage at COPA America in a group with Bolivia, Panama and Uruguay. It's definitely a disaster that's ripe with change beyond just the immediate team. USSF shouldn't have brought back Gregg Berhalter to begin and that's where the consequences need to begin. And perhaps we as fans should hamper these expectations of this so-called "Golden Generation," as they've underwhelmed thus far. Gregg gets plenty of blame, but they've underperformed when it has mattered the most. At this point, they're slightly better than the previous teams with less to show for it. Some of this is on Gregg for not being able to exploit the talent and some is on the players for not overcoming horrible coaching. There's a ton to be done in the next two years before the World Cup is in the US, and not enough time.

 

I really want to attend a World Cup game. They are in North America and I believe Philly is getting some games. My dream is USA vs Italy but I'll go see whoever is playing.

Not big on the sport but watched some of COPA. USA played Uruguay closer then I thought they would but lost 1-0.

 

I intent on going to the USA game in Seattle. Tickets are likely going to be extreme lol.

 

Watching the UEFA Euro Cup 2024. Guessing this has nothing to do with North America. Soccer fans sure have passion.

 

US participated in COPA America that features countries from the western hemisphere... it's definitely a trip watching those games from Europe.

 

I get not many Soccer fans on here but watching the fans of the Euro Cup teams is worth it. Never knew Turkey changed to Turkiye. England/Switzerland and Turkiye/Netherlands play today in the quarter finals.

Spain/France in semi-finals. And two winners today. When I was in Europe I had most fun in the Netherlands so I'll pull for them.

 

I still have My Italy jersey/shirt(whatever they call it) from back in the day.

 

I too bought one the last time they won The World Cup. I will be wearing it to whatever game I attend.

 

Good game just completed. England beat Switzerland in one of those shoot (kick) outs. I can't see how any goalie can stop those shots. On the very first kick for the Swiss their guy messed up and kicked it right at the goalie.

I do enjoy the fans going insane.

So Spain vs France and England vs winner of next game, Netherlands vs Turkiye (that is Turkey to us) for the semi-finals. It's Tuesday and Wednesday with the final being Sunday the 14th.

Now on to the COPA

 

Went to World Cup Final in Spain 82 and the US match 94 in Detroit.

 

I just happened to get mine two year before that.

And as a result of the debacle, Berhalter gets canned!!!

 

I was in MX in '86 during the "Hand of God" world cup. I didn't go to any games but, the atmosphere was insane! I mostly remember the "Chiquiti-Boom" girl!

 

I actually remember that. Maradona guy I believe. Had to be an awesome time.

 

Argentina and Columbia battle it out for COPA. I'll be pulling for Columbia, better drugs

Spain and England battle it our for EURO. I'll be pulling for England. Their ladies liked me while the Spanish gals dissed me.

Both games on Sunday.

Congrats Spain, EURO Champions. That was a great match to watch. Fans are bat sh!t crazy.

 

Cavan Sullivan 14 year old playing in the MLS. Philadelphia team. As soon as he turns 18 he is already signed with Manchester United. Talk about a bright future!!

Reminds me a little of the Pirates. The rookies come and start dreaming of the money teams.
