Some were blaming Khan for this but Morse just liked the Jags better, especially the QB situation but also playing for Pederson his rookie year.

Did we ever hear Morse's name at the time? Can't recall. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out anyway.

I'd rather have the cheaper/long term option anyways.

I figured he wanted them more. And it's understandable. But he's going to hate not seeing a post season.

They had him in for a visit if thats what you mean. It’s interesting because had they signed him maybe they address the Dline with the 2 pick or any number of possibilities.

I like the players we got but I just like thinking about the domino effect it would have had if they signed Morse instead.

I mean, Trevor Lawrence is miles ahead of what the team has at QB. That said, I am using T Law vs Wilson & Fields in that vacuum only as that is the context in which Morse is referring to. One thing that did catch my eye though; choosing Doug Pederson over Mike Tomlin.

Pederson may have a Super Bowl like Tomlin but Tomlin has shown to be the superior Coach; shortcomings included. For that matter, Pederson's tremendous fumbling of the Offensive Game Plan during the 2023 Season is what caused the Jaguars to go from 8-3 leading the AFC to 9-8 and missing out on the playoffs all together.

This video by both Brett Kollmann and EJ Snyder all but highlights my views of the Jags heading into 2024 anyways. As I have told @S.T.D@S.T.D, this is likely it for Lawrence; a possible Ben Johnson hire from Detriot or not in 2025 being irrelevant. He either is what I thought he could be (a QB with Superstar ability) or he is just a turbocharged Daniel Jones.

More often than not, it is.

Even easier when you have little to no leverage as a Franchise. Jaguars needed a Center possibly even worse than the Steelers did. Morse was the best option.

That said though, as I have been a major critic of Baalke, there is little to no depth behind Morse. Mason Cole may have been bad but Luke Fortner is even worse.

Can’t blame a guy for following his instincts. Nobody knows at this point how it turns out.

Or the Jaguars just offered more money and this is the kind of nonsense players say to avoid admitting they just took the better financial offer.

I care and worry anytime a team in AFC betters themselves. This is huge for Jaguars. Maybe they will kick our ass worse then last Playoff game.

More money, better quarterback, no state tax? Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

Morse is in his thirties; I think the Steelers were going to draft a center even if they signed him. He would've been a stop gap guy, a chance for more playing time in Jacksonville.

I'm still butt hurt about that loss. Made Fournette look like Eric Dickerson. To his credit he showed up to play we couldn't stop the guy

Lets not forget the great Blake Bortles! :lolol: The Tomlin defense got shelled! Ben was solid but wasn't enough unfortunately.

You do realize that you always accuse players and coaches of lying when they say something that discredits a narrative of yours.

Whats more believable, that Khan is so stupid and stubborn looking to sign everyone on the cheap or that Morse preferred playing with Lawrence over Wilson or Pickett.

thats what I recall. There was some discussion that we should have landed, but we forget it is called FA for a reason, sometimes it is money, but the player can choose for any number of reasons. I was not bummed or alarmed that he did not sign here, wanted the stability that a vet of his stature could bring, but also thought that at his age it could be short lived as well.

Bortles threw for like 200 yards IIRC, fans acting like he lit up the Steelers defense .
