2024 Pittsburgh Pirates

Bucs remind me a teeny tiny bit of the Dodgers when they had Koufax, Drysdale, and Osteen. Those teams won with pitching and couldn't hit just like our Bucs.

 

People were rafting in that lovely river water and I swear that Cruz missile just missed going in a raft. I can't believe I use to swim in those rivers.

 

OK fellow Buc fans. I'm going to miss today game due to a pool party. Really wanted to watch Skenes.

Braxton Ashcraft is coming off TJ surgery but has a WHIP of around 1.00 this year. He is at Indy. It would change things a lot if he was the next starter. It really takes time to build someone back up after TJ but so far he looks really good. A rotation of Jones, Skenes, Keller, and Ashcraft in 2025 would look awfully good and is on my Christmas wish list. That and a few sticks who can hit over .200.
The bullpen games will hopefully be a thing of the past soon. When you see Pitcher: TBD for the Pirates it could mean….

Was going to say TBD, To be Defeated but I don't like that one.

 

That dream is hoped for on another board. I can see the Bucs having a damn good staff in 2025. Problem is Bob. No doubt in mind he will not help this team get better. He'll trade away these pitchers in a few years for future prospects that never work out.

Skenes with a gem of a game… bullpen comes in and immediately gives up 2 runs for a Rays 3-1 lead. Rays still batting with 2 on and 2 outs in 8

I agree. However 3 runs is not horrible unless you're Pirates. A 2 run lead is usually insurmountable. Horrible hitting

Down to our last out, im beginning to think we wont see 500 until opening day next season.

 

Disgusting… strike three end of game. Such a waste of starting pitching, 3 hits today. Awful. Basically need a pitcher to pitch a no hitter to win. Back to 3 under.

I didnt know Bednar is on 15 day disabled list. This could be our season in next 15 days.

I’m sure there will be some trade move to placate the fans a little, but having this many nonproductive hitters in the lineup is just awful and inexcusable.

 

His name is Robert Nutting and thanks to the way MLB is set up he knows he can make good money with sucky players. Back in 2013 when we actually won a Wild Card game at the trade deadline he added a few guys who were decent but nothing special. We care about a decent baseball team he does not.

 

Team batting average for the pirates is a sterling .227. 26th in the league. What a terrible hitting team. Just no hope for this year at all.

 

Not far at all from the Mendoza Line… this is actually sad

 

The Pirates are close to dropping below the Mendoza Line as a team! Has that ever been done?
Does anyone know how to start a Go Fund Me to get some hitters? If the fans actually did that, it might embarrass them into doing something.
