Cowher doesn't know what he's talking about! Tomlin needs to be fired. He's too buddy buddy with teh players, can't make hard decisions, and has no discipline.

ugh typing that made me a little nauseous

But so many posters here think they should panic. I just don't know what to believe anymore.

As for Sundays' game, Cowher likes the matchup and is pulling for the Ravens, his old bitter rivals.
"I root for John Harbaugh, I root for the players. Even when you were playing against them, you respected them. To me, they represent the AFC North. It's like, if you're not going to win it, you want them to, and the way they're going about doing it. There are amazing storylines. It's got the making of a really good game."

Wha??? I'm sorry, I just don't understand this mindset. I guess it's different if you're a Steelers' fan compared to being a Steelers' coach, player or former coach. Pouncey also said he was rooting for the Ravens. I just don't get it.

The 8-8 record isnt the issue. That, one would think, can be addressed and fixed. It was the WAY the players took the field that I had a problem with- lifeless, dispassionate, undisciplined. I dont know where that starts and who needs to fix it, but it was a HUGE problem this season.

Yeah, that's not the part I agreed with, I don't get that either! Guess it's more of a fan mindset though, several players have said the same thing.

Most posters here are too young/not born yet, for Bubby Brister.
Ya gotta experience the tough times.

Bubby was fun and 'mostly' liked.

Fire Tomlin????? Uh ok if we are bringing Cowher and his chin back. I am not even close to ready to get rid of Tomlin even if he disappointed me this year. Why we are at it lets fire Heath for getting hurt and Ben for finishing up slow after such a great start.

The crappy teams around this league are changing caoches and styles every other year and thats a major reason they suck. Tomlin is still one of the youngest coaches in this league and could coach for us for the next 20 years. I think there are some things he neess to change and things he needs to improve but to fire him would be crazy. There would be a bidding war for him and and we would reget it this i'm sure of.

I love Coach Cowher but get real folks he aint commimg back, at least not to us. If Tomlin can't fight through the problems we saw surface this year then yes he would need to go but certianlly not this year or even the next.

Fire Tomlin, now that's original. How long before Freak comes along with his daily fire Tomlin post?

Well I think the bitter truth is that we hate the Ravens more than the players hate the Ravens. Really they're co-workers. They compete hard against eachother but at the end of the game they are actually friends. We view the Ravens as our enemy. They view the Ravens as their opponents. I can't pull for the Ravens. I just can't do it. But when you really think about it I would say that most fans are more passionate than the players are about an organization. I mean there are people on here, actually you included Jack, that have liked the Steelers for literally longer than Pouncey has been alive. He may be more passionate about the actual sport. But you are probably more passionate about the actual organization that he's playing for at the moment. Does that seem like a stretch to say that? I mean there are probably a lot of players that are a part of a franchise they couldn't give two craps about but since they wanna play pro ball that's where they have to do it at. But at the same time there is probably some fan of that franchise that breathes it ya know? I'm not surprised that some of our players would be for them. I would REALLY like to know who Hines is for. Pouncey really hasn't been here since this rivalry really started anyway. Hines was so I would like to know what his thoughts are.

Yep. My first qb was Neil. I used to defend him. I used to even tell people that I liked him. That's how much of a Steelers fan I am. I would defend HIM! LOL. Although during that Super Bowl I wanted to rip his arm off and beat him with it Mortal Kombat syle!

You make some great points, blount. There was a time that teams genuinely loathed each other and actually had a deep-seeded loyalty to the organization they played for. That was before free agency when the player knew that in all likelihood he would be playing for that organization for his entire career. Now it's like players don't want to make any enemies in the event they end up playing for their arch rivals one day. It bugs me that after a loss we see Steeler players out on the field making nice with the enemy that just kicked their butts. Now it seems to be more about loyalty to the NFL shield than it is to the Black and Gold. I know one thing, Jack Lambert wouldn't be rooting for the Raiders back in the day! And for those of you that don't know, the Raiders were essentially the Steelers biggest rivals in the 70s even though they played in different divisions.

Today's NFL kind of reminds me of ol' Sam and Ralph here.
