Good point. Didn't think that way. I love the pitch clock and no more throwing 4 useless balls for a walk.

I will never ever agree with the DH. Pitchers not having to hit change so much in MLB. Never ever agree with inter-league play. I know the younger fans love those changes and that is what matters to the powers that be. And I sure as hell hate the way MLB is set up.

If we a different owner I'd be pumped with the pitching we have. I'm hoping against hope Nutbag spends some money on bats and then it could get interesting.

Hate inter league play, bad idea from the start. Also, showing my age here, hate night games at Wrigley. Stadium was built for day games only!:hehehe:

The Pirates got rid of the hellish Heller, and quickly got Dennis Santana, who was DFAed by the Yankees. Santana is not as awful as Heller was, but he is awful enough.
Why do they do these things? Isn’t there someone at Indy who can do what Santana is expected to do, with the possibility of improvement?

I guess you lose Curly, you get Shemp. You lose Shemp, you get Joe Besser. But the Stooging (and dumpster diving) must go on…..

Another Yankee reject. Someone please put a blockade up to the Yankees rejects , seems we have a direct pipeline for all these rejects

Back to 3 games under. If we can win tonight I have high hopes to reach .500 at some point against Rockies or Reds.

I wish we could have three pitchers act as DHs for the three worst hitters in the Pirates’ lineup. The offense would certainly be no worse off than it is now.

I lived in Denver for many years. Lived in Lakewood actually out by the Villa Italia mall. Which is not there anymore. But I digress. I voted for the stadium tax then left :) Anyway the Pirates are going to be playing in the thin air of Denver. With our bullpen that's a scary thought. Does anyone on the Pirates have 10 home runs????? We're bottom 10 in home runs and a whole bunch of offensive categories. Man just one more bat!!!! PLEASE!!!!

The Pirates move on to Denver.
Here is an interesting article on the effects of altitude in baseball. A fastball can travel about a mile per hour faster (in Denver vs. at sea level) due to reduced drag, a breaking ball breaks less due to reduced Magnus force. A fly ball goes farther, because the reduced drag outweighs the reduced Magnus force.

I know it effects on a golf ball. Played in Mexico City once. My ball went 20 yards further in that altitude. Also felt a bit sick at first when we got there. Altitude sickness sucks. My home course is sea level. They use metrics so I was confused at first. Kept over shooting the greens. Finally a guy told me to club down, it's the altitude.

Since it straightens out breaking balls, I bet a knuckleball pitcher would get creamed in Denver. Interesting that they say a fastball sinks MORE, because the Magnus effect (which helps keep it up) is reduced.
I have spent time in Ajijic, which is also about 5000 ft. Did not feel any different, walked everywhere. Also spent 24 hours in a dive habitat at 1.8 atmospheres, didn’t feel any different there either except that my joints hurt less.
Will Pornstache pitch in Denver? Would like to see how much speed he adds in the thin air.
