Unless it is a mutual agreement, no way are Steelers ever firing coach T
I still stand firm, I wouldve never offered him an extension until I seen what he did this season. If he didnt win a playoff game for the 8 consecutive year, no extension. Hopefully it works out.

He will never walk away form the dough, no way. Media loves him, players love him but if we don't go anywhere in the playoffs, it's ok with the owners. Its like the ownerships believes they never can find another guy, he was young guy with the vikings, its not improbable that you will find another good orator and someone that knows football. It's not like he turned out to be a Walsh, Noll or Beli.

Ignoring the overall picture, which is where the comparison falls apart, is misleading, but you knew that.

Cowher was a year removed from winning a Super Bowl. It had nothing to do with concern about fading away. It came out later that his wife was ill. He took the time to focus on her, then decided he liked broadcasting enough to stay there.

Head coaches aren't at risk of having their neurons scrambled every time they compete and some of them still don't know when to walk away. There is a strong argument to be made for moving on from Tomlin, but it isn't built on a foundation of misleading comparisons that fall apart very easily.

I see we are changing the topic rather than acknowledging the failed argument. That's fine.

Cowher was the better coach, but the margin is very slim. Cowher had a comparable resume without having a Hall of Fame quarterback most of his career. Of course, he did that when it was a little easier to win with a running game and defense.

That said, the current choice isn't between Cowher and Tomlin. It is between Tomlin and some unproven guy who could be great or fail miserably.

That’s what Bellichek said about letting Brady go. Tampa will be forever grateful…….. grass isn’t always greener.

Really, comparing Brady to Bill about Tomlin. At least Bill had an excuse for wheels falling off wagon, what is Tomlins excuse? Why does he get outcoached for the last 7 years in playoff games? Why does he constantly lose to 2-10 teams?
I realize grass isnt always greener on the other side, but sometimes you have to take a chance. Once again, hats off for not having a losing season. But if you cant win a playoff game no chance of ever winning a Super Bowl

I was really hoping that Mike Tomlin would feel some pressure to elevate his performance and playoff winning drought but this signals that the standard is forever the standard with the Steelers. Truly disappointed with this organization and the handling of only 3 coaches in 55 years. I guess 9-8 or 10-7 is good enough for the Rooneys every year.

Sad news ,at 76 it looks like I will never see another Steeler S.B win .no losing seasons is not going to ease the frustration of mediocracy for 3 more years.

Methuselah lived to be 969. Don't give up hope. We could win a Super Bowl by then. Ben's son is 11. And he could be throwing to one of Antonio Brown's sons if you can hold out.

Looks like I can still have fun with my trivia question at parties. What major sports team has had fewest HC's last 54 years?

1969-2027 +? That is going to be 58 years of Steelers only having 3 head coaches.

We have got to be the only team in all 4 major sports to have had fewest amount of HC's in that time period.

Most fans have turned on him as evidence in this thread. When he continues to fail the boo birds will be calling for him like they did for Canada and deservingly so. Rooney deserves egg on his face for this putrid decision.
