Actually when We played this live the other singer sang it. He sounded better doing in than I did. That's how we split who sang what. Certain things I sounded better, and Certain things He did.

It was today I learned that was about Dune. LoL. I've read two of the books, seen all the movies , except the newest part 2, and heard this song many times, and I just now learned that.

My nephew is a drummer and that is exactly how his band decides who sings the song. He hates it if he has to sing. He is good drummer but does not like doing both at same time.

RIP Doug Ingle. Keyboard player and singer of maybe the best garage band hit of the 60's, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (honey) with Iron Butterfly. Was supposed to be a less than 2 minute Country ballad, they took some liberties and extended it a bit. While pretty much a one hit wonder band what a hit it was. The 17 minute live version is pretty awesome. Check it out. Horrible video but sounds like it's the studio version that was on their album. It was supposed to be called In the Garden of Eden but Ingle was so drunk when he played and sang it originally that the words got slurred a bit.

If you're into 22 minute versions - here you go.

Well, the lyrics offer so few clues… ;)

“…Without a stillsuit you would fry
On the sands so hot and dry
    In a world called Arrakis
It is a land that's rich in spice
The sand riders and the mice
That they call the 'Muad' Dib'
    He is the Kwizatz Haderach
    He is born of Caladan
And will take the Gom Jabbar….

I actually never knew the words. I'm totally serious when I say this.....I listen to vocals like another instrument....if it sounds good with the other instruments....I'm good, and sometimes I will pay attention to what they are saying. I can't tell You how many songs I have been playing, and listening to all My life, and then when we would work one into our set list....I'd be like wow....I didn't even know they were saying that. LoL.

They did some good stuff after 1988. Just not whole albums worth. Justice was their last great complete album IMO

I went to about 12 shows on that tour and Having Godsmack open for them was a blessing.
    They basically ruled that bill.

Coming home from golf today and this came on radio. First I ever heard it. Love this guys voice.

I'm guessing "season of the sticks" is when all the leaves are off the trees in Vermont????

you know I'm almost 70 and I had no clue what The Animals looked like when they did the house of the rising sun. It's hilarious.. The song is really gritty and he does a great job on it but he looks like a kid!!! LOL well anyway i'm having fun tonight. :rawk::thumbs_up::this!::shrug::bowdown::hehehe::drinks::cool: and when he sings about not letting your kids do what I have done!!!!

I always thought if these guys were a band in today's time, they'd be hardcore metal.
