he can talk to other teams however san fran has first right of refusal San fran can match any other team offers. 4.9 million is what SF has offered him for 2024

I don't know what this means so early, but I see him standing with his helmet off, not participating in team drills.

Now I know it is way early, but all the hype Darius Rush and Beanie Bishop are getting Trice had better be putting on a helmet soon, or he may find himself out of the top 53.

Because everyone outside of the Steelers fans knows it's pretty stupid to be holding out at 35, after injury riddled season and he's a captain that should be setting an example.

Trice is still wearing a brace on that knee, wait until training camp to let him participate in team drills.

This or a trade post June 1st.

I still expect them to gun for D.K. Metcalf personally. The price will likely be high. Just how high remains to be seen.

If not him?! I'd actually go another route; see if JuJu Smith Schuster gets cut at the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Preseason. Given how the likes of Jerod Mayo and the Patriots FO have now officially placed a new emphasis on the Offense (Mayo likely wanting to imprint his own identity onto the team), JuJu likely isn't in their plans. Cutting him wouldn't damage the Patriot's Salary Cap too much anyways.

Not the most appeasing option.. but an option to consider. Reminder that, unlike Steven Nelson, JuJu did leave Pittsburgh on good terms; same goes for Cameron Sutton. Wouldn't mind havin' both back to be honest.

    I respectfully disagree.

People outside the org. know why it is wise for Cameron Heyward to hold out... and it is for one rock solid reason.

Beyond Cameron Heyward... who else is there to rely on along the IDL?!

    1. Keeanu Benton?! He is currently a NT and moving him would cause serious strain on that position already; Montravius Adams being back being irrelevant.

    2. Larry Ogunjobi?! He hasn't been able to stay healthy during his time here overall. Counting on him now would be catastrophic

    3. DeMarvin Leal?! He is approaching bust territory but again, this isn't just on him but the entire Org as a whole. He was splitting between 3-4 OLB and DE during his Rookie Season; already putting him behind the eight ball as those two positions in a 3-4 Defense are as different as learning English vs. learning Spanish. His own fault came in his Sophomore Campaign; a healthy scratch all season along despite making it to the final 53 man roster.
    4. Isaiah Loudermilk?! Depth only

    5. Logan Lee?! That much faith in a late round Rookie?! This would be a far greater leap of faith than entrusting Larry O to carry the load.

In short?! Cameron Heyward possesses every imaginable form of leverage possible. The only way the Steelers could hope to get out of this leverage is to trade for an impact IDL immediately... and something they should have done a while back... but didn't do so. Why?!

AR II, Omar Kahn, Andy Weidl and Mike Tomlin, Teryl Austin and Karl Dunbar all know all to well that Cameron Heyward is essentially irreplaceable not just on the field but off of it is well. Therefore, whatever Cameron Heyward wants... he is going to get and, unlike Kevin Colbert before him, Omar Kahan isn't going to waste time on contractual negotiation. If anything, I suspect that the team will likely get Cameron's deal done sometime in June. Before then though, Omar and the FO will likely attempt to pull off a Wide Receiver trade before then. If not?!... Cameron gets extended then the Steelers will have to see if there are other WR targets they can pick.

His 2nd rounder tender means we have to beat the $4.9 million offer by San Fran and also give them a 2nd round pick.

A former 7th round pick who is currently sitting at 5th on your Receiving Depth Chart. Behind Aiuk, Deebo, Christian, and Kittle for getting a pass thrown his direction. I can definitely see why San Fran is hoping someone will take this kid off their hands for a 2nd round pick.

In 3 years, he has not broke the 500 yards receiving mark. $5+ million per year and a 2nd round pick seems high to me.

You forgot Lowry. I'm not saying he is anything great, but he is more likely to help this season than Leal or Loudermilk.

Metcalf would be great and would really add that big play threat along with Pickens. Hadn’t seen anything to say Seattle wants to trade him but if do he will be in demand and will be expensive

Darius Slayton would be a much cheaper option if they are going to trade for a receiver that can get down the field. He isn’t going to change how defences have to play against you like Metcalf would, but Slayton will give you a steady 700-800 yards and a handful of TD’s

SOB. I completely forgot about 1st round pick WR Ricky Pearsall, Florida.

This bumps Johnson down to your #6 Receiving option. Factor that in with the fact that the 49ers league the lead in FB snaps percentage, means Jauan Jennings is going to have problems even getting on the field with the 49ers this year.

Aren't these Tags guaranteed money for the player; making Johnson's $4.9 million GTD for San Fran. I guess an actual trade for a 6th or 7th round draft pick could be an option for San Fran to just get Jennings and his $4.9 million cap hit off the team.

Juan Jennings would be a good pickup for only giving up a 6th or 7th. He had a chance to win the Superbowl MVP this year if the 49ers would have won. He caught a TD pass and threw a TD pass to McCaffrey.

If Heyward's asking price is too high, then they can just let him play out the season.

There is currently a 4-way race to be the 1st WR in history to sign a multi year deal worth $35 million per year.

“The receiver market has already been reset twice in the past month, and we are on the verge of another jump with Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, Ja’Marr Chase and Brandon Aiyuk all up for new deals,” Mueller wrote. “All four could plausibly reset the market, so we might be looking at $35 million per year — which would be 13.7 percent of the cap — or more.”

Cam has every imaginable form of leverage? Cam is due $16 million this year. If the Steelers decided to cut bait and try to use that money to improve the team via a trade for a vet, what do you think Cam would get on the market at his age, coming off an injury? Add to that the fact that Cam would need to uproot and move to a new city, one that may have a much higher cost of living than Pittsburgh. I’d say that the Steelers have some solid leverage. It’s in the interest of both sides to get something reasonable done.

i wonder if cam is not quite right yet with the groin? possibly why he's not out there to preform in shorts yet and let them see him operate, which would bring down his extension price.

Again though, who is replacing Cameron Heyward?!

I had already listed the players available to the team at the moment. Unless the team pulls off a big trade for a young IDL (very rare in todays NFL), I don't see the team not extending him.

Waddle took a deal close to or at 30, put that with Hill and now try and sign the QB. Lamb wants his payday, but Parson's probably wants money equal or better thatn TJ. Chase is going to get paid, Tee Higgins wants his share. No doubt some or all will get their money, but nearly 14 %, 25% for the QB, pay and edge and T, you got nothing left for the 51 other guys, lol

Jenning's just signed for 2 years. Going to be curious to see what June 1st means to the 49ers receivers. Who is out Aiyuk or Deebo?

Speaking of June 1st, rumor is DK Metcalf may become available.
Patience would pay off if the Steelers trade for WR DK Metcalf - Yahoo Sports

And, I just don't see Sean Payton giving us anything to Help Russell Wilson. Payton knows he is going to be judged on how well Russ does in Pittsburgh.
