You'd have to ask the two teams that had him last year and never put him in a game. The 49ers signed him, put him on IR, then cut him. The Lions signed him to their practice squad in October, then cut him in November. Maybe injuries ruined his last three seasons, but that's not a good sign, either.

many times teams bring guys in because of injury depth for short stints. the steelers do it all the time. just because these teams cut him loose late in the season doesn't mean he is not good enough for a role. pretty tough to come to a team that late and immediately get on the field. rowe did last year for us but we were out of players and jack did but jack already knew the defense.

Doesn't it tell you something that no team bothered to sign him until Aug. 3 last year?

That, or they are relying on playing the scrap heap like the Pirates. Let's just hope Khan isn't done.

Didn't see this above but looks like the reunion with Bud Dupree won't be happening - he just signed a 2 year deal with LA Chargers.

He was dealing with an injury in 2023 which is why he didn't play, they still have like two openings to complete their 90 man roster, Donte Jackson is their other starting CB.

But they will probably want their #4 OLB to play special teams, that's why I think Jeremiah Moon is going be the #4 OLB.

Talk about a gun to your head signing. Either sit out all next year in 2024, or sign a new 1 year league minimum deal with us.

The Steelers claimed former Baltimore Raven Jeremiah Moon a month ago but the move was deferred until after the Super Bowl. He was technically a free agent but the Steelers held exclusive rights to him. That gave Moon the choice of sitting out the 2024 season or signing a one-year deal worth $915,000 with Pittsbugh.Feb 26, 2024

I think I would bring back Golden.

Funny is there an injured player you don't like?
Played 6 years in college due to multiple injuries.(2016-2021) Moon battle injuries his rookie year in 2022 and then was healthy enough to play in 8 games for 2023.

Who says I like Moon? I have never seen him play, but I still think he will end up being the #4 OLB.

Everyday I come home and check the big Free Agent board to see if Xavien Howard, or Justin Simmons have been picked up by anyone.

I've kind of given up on the Free agent market for now. I still think they will make a move on a WR but it will need to be a trade, or they may have to wait until the end of preseason when teams start to unload their veteran players to save money on younger prospects.

Besides Cam Sutton, I also think there may be another Steeler to pop up on the open market, right before the season.... Mike Hilton may be the $6 million dollar cap casualty if 5th round draft pick Josh Newton is ready to step up and take the slot corner role for Cincinnati. (Hilton's Cap cost is 7.45million, but if release the Bengals would save 6.45million, with a dead cap hit of only $1million. Something to keep an eye on in the preseason.

I don’t recall Xavien Howard being anything special as a cover corner for at least a couple of years now. He’ll be 31 this season. This seems like another Pat Pete type of situation if we bring him in to start on the outside. He is better vs. the run, so there's that I guess.

I have a feeling our last piece of the puzzle for the secondary in 2024 will be Sutton. The team just needs to see things play out a bit more before biting. JMO.

i just hope trice doesn't become another corner that never see's the field. what the heck was his name, our draft pick that year? we did bring in another cornerback whisperer coach. we have what was supposed to be the best young coaches at that position. as well as WR and QB. let's see if they are able to do what they do. if so we win with the scrap heaps guys. :smiley1::cool:

Senquez Golson? I think he tears or pulls something if one of us even brings up his name.

I'm not certain what more there is to play out. The legal issue has been resolved. I haven't heard anything about league discipline. Despite the ugly look of the situation, with the reduced charges and no previous history of such incidents, there may not be any discipline from the NFL at all. If there was going to be, they should have resolved it by now.

Meanwhile, KC's top receiver is facing 9 felony charges, and not a peep out of Goodell's office.

Rice's legal situation is far from resolved, especially with the new accusations. The league usually allows that to play out first.

Does the league impose discipline on players who are not currently in the league? I don’t recall that happening, but it certainly could have.

I think unsigned free agents are still considered active players when it comes to things like league discipline. I am fairly certain they have handed own suspensions or other punishments for players who were not on a roster, which can make it more difficult for them to get a new contract.
