WR Roman Wilson

Sounds to me he will become either Russell's or Justin's best friend sooner rather than later.

I also liked both going in, but I would have been very pissed if they didn't take Frazier there.

 

If he catches the ball and runs forward then that will literally be a step in the right direction.

 

I felt like #51 was too early for Roman, if they passed on center there then they would've been screwed IMO.

 

Being the starting punt returner and a good WR4 would be a fine role for Austin. Certainly would love to see him get some opportunities to break it open, but as it stands he will likely be the 4th WR in a run heavy offense that has a good receiving TE.

 

They are comparing him to a light Hines Ward. If he is half of Hines Ward I will be thrilled. It's what I have been saying, we need more Hines Ward type players on this team. I see it in TJ Watt, Broderick Jones and Jaylen Warren. The more you get the better.

I think Franklin's inability to consistently catch is what likely caused him to fall. Play strength is another thing but the lack of it becomes apparent in run blocking. Wilson doesn't have the size but he has the play strength and is better at both catching in traffic along with being focused on catches.

 

Calvin Austin can still become what he wants to be.

Kenny and Canada sucked

 

If he can be 3/4 of what Hines Ward was, we have something.

Just a reminder: Hines Ward didn't get much playing time at receiver as a rookie. He didn't really emerge as even a solid contributor until his second season.

 

i think the way he was used in college had a lot to do with that. hines was a jack of all trade type in college. RB and WR. he was closer to corderell at that point. wilson has always been a wr.

Antonio Brown was always a receiver, too, but he played sparingly on offense as a rookie.

 

Nobody here suggested Wilson wasn't talented, but counting on rookies at receiver is a bad bet.

Bringing up the era is interesting. Offenses are far more complex and demand more or receivers now than they did in the past. Even with the more simplistic passing offenses in the '70s, Hall of Famers Lynn Swann and John Stallworth made a minimal impact as rookies in 1974.

 

he didn't take off until they gave him the money and got rid of two others. AB was a pretty good receiver at central michigan. i was probably the first on here to tell everybody they would like this kid. we still had arnez battle, hines ward, mike wallace and drafted manny sanders 3 rounds before AB at that point. heath was here and spaeth as well.

 

Thats a poor apology. We had Hines Ward, Wallace and Sanders in front of AB at that time.

 

College offenses and WR’s are way more sophisticated and developed now coming in to the league so they are better prepared. You see Rookie WR’s having an impact every year. It just depends on which ones are pro ready. Wilson is a hard worker. I have no doubt this guy is going to be ready. But im sure you will be looking for him to mess up so you can come on here and say I told you so because being right to you seems to matter more.

 

You forgot Qb also. I hate Him at Georgia, but when the Steelers got Him....I was super excited. Didn't He play punt, and Kickoff returns mainly Here in His 1st year??? I seem to remember that, but maybe I'm remembering wrong.
