6 year guy with 55 straight starts. They should know what they have in him.

I like it. They must like what they have in the secondary. and if we overkill the O line and win time of possession every game, and still be as tenacious on D as per usual, thats a winning formula. Hedge against injuries on the line. I like it.

NFL.com had him rated the 4th best guard in the draft. Another great value getting McCormick at #119.

What I said in the Official Draft Day thread. Not exactly NFL.com's ratings as far as guards go though McComrick just missed my Top 5; 7th being his ranked spot behind Christian Haynes.

getting the big uglies does not make a sexy draft, and while you hope every one stays healthy, having quality depth and future development is what keeps you competitive. I like the pick.

Issac Seumalo will be 31 next season and James Daniels might not return to Pittsburgh. Insurance for either or. Given his snap count at Left Guard... could be Issac's replacement but he is versatile enough to be Right Guard as well.

Don't tell the likes of San Francisco, Baltimore, Cleveland or even Los Angeles (more so now with Jim Harbaugh) this. For that matter, as much as people make them out to be, Kansas City even fielded a Top 10 rushing attack in 2023.

Make no mistake; Patrick Mahomes is both the engine and supercharger of the Chiefs. That said, never hurts to have someone like Isaiah Pacheco pounding the rock.

The chiefs defense were also the best unit of the chiefs in 2023!

    Yep.

Two top 20 talents I had in both George Karlaftis and Trent McDuffie played a major part in that. Brett Veach must have realized a year later in 2023 that the WR Corps wasn't going to be good; Rasheen Rice panning out or otherwise. Thanks to the Tyreek Hill trade, Kansas City now has two great building blocks in Trent and George.

Losing L'Jarius Sneed will sting but not to the effect others think.

I, nor anyone know the future, Daniels has done a decent job with the chaos that surrounded him. While the team may have money next year, FA is a two way street, he may not want to stay, the money may not be right for either side. Having guys you know and are confident in is essential for keeping a competitive team.

It’s refreshing to see that the Steelers finally get that you build through the trenches.

Wiedl may be the best hire they have ever made, his fingerprints are all over this draft.

I never stated it is guaranteed. All I am saying is I wouldn't rule out that possibility. Steelers still could use a veteran presence at WR.

Denver is still a team I am watching closely; doubly so after the Troy Franklin pick. Cortland Sutton might not cost nearly as much as I initially thought; much of the same vein of Jerry Jeudy. If the Steelers can swing one of their 6th Round Picks for him?!... I am calling that a major win.

    From BR notes:

"His relative athletic score ranked eighth among all guards since 1987, per Pro Football Network's Kent Lee Platte."

Hoping for a CB or DL, but very hard to argue with or be disappointed by this draftee. As noted the OG situation could be fluid as soon as next year (or this year with one injury).

I was actually thinking of the future OL possibilities, pretaining to G's especially. The currwnt WR situation is certainly not complete, so you may be correct. The CAP money freed up this week was for something they had in mind, could be a trade and sign, or coming to terms after the draft/UDA period. I was thinking Boyd may still be on the radar, but Sutton as well.

    Ah... I see. Gotcha.

I want Sutton over Boyd personally. More size with more consistency. In addition, he and Russ have had history together. Add the fact he is a great locker room guy and Sutton is definitely someone I would love to have.

Agreed, but Sutton will cost draft picks and Boyd will not.
