Wasn’t a huge fan of the pick last night, but after giving it more thought I’m pretty happy with a pick. Clearly every team in the NFL was not as impressed with the cornerback class as the media and fans

I wouldn't complain if Steelers got a CB in 2nd round instead of Center. Only 7 defensive players were taken in 1st round, so there's obviously some damn good defenders left over for the 2nd.

Fautanu was their highest rated player that was still on the board, to trade up to get Mims would be too costly for a team that doesn't have any picks in the 5th or 7th rounds.

I know they wanted to fix the OL, but it would've been nice to have a CB tandem of Porter Jr. and Quinyon Mitchell.

The draft is deeper at CB than center, I think they need to go center in the second round, even if they have to trade up to get Frazier or JPJ.

Or the more likely scenario that they’re not as good as you think. You have to remember nfl teams have been scouting these players for years.

You have to build the trenches first. If your lines are crap your team is crap

Your just mad because this guy doesn’t fit the narrative of 6’8” 340 lbs. This guy was a top 15 talent by most draft pundits. Technically and athletically he might be the most gifted OT. Does he have the upside of a MIMs maybe not but that upside is a big if. I would much rather take the safer pick and keep our draft capital.

no - that is incorrect logic.

only 32 players can be drafted in any given round, of course.

6 QB's were drafted. they year we took SUCK Pickett, 1 QB taken. Soooooo - for argument sake, compared to this draft, 6 taken - pushing other 'talent' down.

'runs' also happen. the 'run' this year was O Tackles and QB's. that DOES NOT mean that there are not GREAT D players left. GREAT ones.

lots of talent to be gotten here in Rd. 2!!!

If teams believed the cornerbacks/defensive line/ linebacker/safety were worthy of the pick they would have been picked

It was the worst offensive line ever to win the super bowl. They won despite this and they also almost cost the super bowl in the fourth quarter

I suspect there is going to be a run on WR’s and CB’s in the second round. Thats why I would prefer we hopefully get one of the Centers in rd 2 and then trade a pick to get a veteran WR. Then hopefully some talent in rd 4 is still left at CB. I figured one of our top four positional needs would not be met this year and it looks like it could be CB.

Its more about the length of the arms anyways which he grades out well in anyway. Would it be cool to have a 6’8” guy.... I guess but who really cares. As long as the guy can play that is what matters. I think that was dumb move by Cincnatti when they have needs at DT, CB and WR but maybe they thought we were high on him so they wanted to stick to it to us.

Everyone complaining about Fautanu doesn’t realize he comes with a higher pedigree than Broderick Jones did last year. Now we have two bookend OT’s. As much as I prefer the skill position players being drafted high I can’t remember a time when we had this much pedigree on the Oline.
