Kiper mentioned the Steelers could move him to center.

Keep him at Tackle and I'll be happy.

    Wanted Mims, happy with Fautanu.

I honestly didn't want him. BUT......
Most draft boards had him in the 11-15 range. Above Mims. Above Fuaga. Sometimes above Latham. I thought right tackle was more valuable than center. So, apparently, did the Steelers.

Will he compete at Right Tackle?! He has no known history of starting there at all. He does have experience as a Left Tackle but Omar Kahn was already on record in stating that Broderick would be moved there at some point.

Perhaps not?! Have to wait and see.

If we can still get the WVU center in 2nd round I'm good with this, although I was kind of hoping we'd grab the corner Philly took. We'll probably need to trade up to get him though. I doubt he's still there at our pick.

I’d be pretty willing to bet at least one (if not two) are available at 51. Good centers just don’t get drafted high. Great centers go in the first. Not sure any of the available centers are “great” level prospects.

This feels like the Terrell Edmunds draft all over again. The Steelers were going to take an Offensive Tackle no matter what.

And there is no way the Steelers were going to trade back and ruin the moment. For Edmunds it was Ryan Shazier waiting behind the curtain ready to "Walk" out and announce the Draft pick, for Troy it was the brand new man of the Year Cam Heyward waiting behind the curtain ready to come out and announce the draft pick.

Terrell and Troy go together like peas and carrots.

Except Troy is leagues greater as an OT than Terrell ever was. Terrell wasn't near a Top 20 pick. Troy should have been selected a lot earlier.

When Edmunds was drafted, everybody thought it was a mistake and they accidentally read his brothers card again. That pick was a joke.

I think Steelers will play him at Center as one of the analysts mentioned that his best position might be center. Steelers love linemen that can play more than one position and with good reason…. Gives you more versatility and depth. I rather have this guy who will be a contributor with a high floor in a position of need rather than another Devin Bush or Artie Burns etc.

    This isn't happening per Tomlin.

Could this change?! It's possible... but who knows?! @Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace was right about one thing; the end of Dan Moore.

I don't know, if they had to play a game today, I see Dan Moore at LT, Jones at RT, and now Fautanu at Center.

That would be fantastic.... if Fautanu had any experience at the position. As it stands currently, he has zero snaps there; his lowest output of snaps actually being 2 at Right Tackle. More info below.

Given the fact that both Jackson Powers Johnson and Zach Frazier are both still on the board, I seriously doubt that Tomlin is going to reverse course immediately and announce Troy is the starting Center. That isn't my personal biggest question. Is he taking over for Broderick so that Broderick can hop back to his natural spot or is Broderick staying there for good and Troy supplanting Dan Moore?! Either way, one thing remains clear; Dan Moore's days are numbered as a starter.

He will be gone in 2025 anyways. See what you got in the young tackle duo.

Pick is solid. Omar looked pissed, they wanted Mims. That’s the way it goes.

    IMO

It would make no sense to play him at Center surely? Why not just draft an experienced Center in that case

Maybe they try to trade up and snatch a center in the 2nd?

Hopefully they do, and hopefully Fautanu is good.

It would be great to sort both positions for the next few years.
