No reason to do this unless they are preparing to pay someone else.

I also heard it may be Sutton (Denver) so we will see soon enough.

Sutton is a nice player. He certainly would be a nice complement to Pickens and make our WR room a lot more whole than it is currently. I am not sure what his trade value is as he is signed for 2 more years at about 17 million a year... He certainly would be a cheaper option to attain than Aiyuk, plus we'd have an out after the season for under 4 million in dead cap. Probably a good deal to make if we can, just not certain what the asking price would be.

Yep, they’re freeing up some big bucks for a reason. That’s the tell I was looking for before I would give any thought to all this crazy talk. It’s the right time too, I think it’s about to get crazy. Stay tuned!

Sutton is a viable starter, but he isn't even close to Aiyuk.

Would like clarification on a matter that is bothering
me, I would first like to say I am glad the Rooney's gave the GM
job to Omar Kahn. He is wonderful cap person and tough negotiator.
He is not known for evaluating talent, many of the people on this board
seem to think he is. I believe there is much input from many others
possibly more qualified than him in making player evaluation s.

yeah for certain. I just don't know what that price would be.... If Aiyuk costs a first or a second +, then what does Sutton cost? 3rd? 4th?

What are you asking for clarification on?
I believe there will be a whole room of people making the talent evals. Whether it’s Rooney, Omar, Weidl, or Tomlin that makes the final call to turn in the card or not may depend on other factors as well.

By tomorrow night there should be a gameplan with a map to follow.

Courtland Sutton and Tyler Boyd's game seem very similar to me. I don't know why we can't just get Boyd in here?

Maybe Russell Wilson is in Khan's ear about this one?

Need to restructure Cam Heyward. If not, cut and resign. No way he gets more than 10 mill per year on market. Another 6 mill savings.

I agree that Aiyuk is MUCH better than Sutton. But, I think the price for Aiyuk is MUCH higher. It will cost us more draft picks AND a lot more per year (probably $25 mil plus for Aiyuk).

I would rather take Sutton, save the picks and the money for others we need to sign (QB?).

I think many people on this board feel that Omar pulls these deals/ trades making selections all by himself. That is just not the case,

We don't know Boyd's contract demands. Maybe he wants to be paid the same as Sutton. Maybe he wants more. He could want a 3+ year deal and he will be on the wrong side of 30. Who knows.

For what its worth, I think Sutton is a bit better than Boyd but not by much. I think Sutton's out after 2024 in for little dead money could be valuable. He's also a year younger. There is a lot more to it than "similar player, therefore why trade for Sutton".

Sutton would be a cheaper cap hit than that for the Steelers if they were to trade for him. The bonus prorations remain with the original team, so the Steelers would just be responsible for his $13M base + $500,000 roster bonus. If they elected to cut him at the end of the season there would be no dead money.

The Broncos would take on ~$7.6M in dead money, but would still save about $5.9M on this year's cap due to his base and roster bonus being removed.

I was under the impression Boyd was already offered 2 YR 10 million to come to Pittsburgh and he turned it down. He may be holding out for more but as we know the closer we get to the draft values should start dropping. Unfortunately for Boyd the Steelers are known for paying about 5 million a year for slot receivers. Allen Robinson was paid I believe 5 million for 23

Boyd wants a lot more money than they think he is worth.

They don't need him to be close to Aiyuk, if you trade for Sutton and draft another WR, then your WR room is pretty good.

I'd agree. We need a viable #2. Sutton is a pretty solid one. It just depends on what we trade to get him. If it is a 3rd rounder or later then I think it is a fairly good deal. Not sure what his market is.
