    Tomlin quote about Pickett: https://sports.yahoo.com/mike-tomli...pfABPvZjaiRSlz903X-lcWpQvZt6g3UYpvEqbErM0fCK9

sounds like Steelers were already going to sign Fields *before* Pickett asked to leave. If Tomlin isn’t lying, then Pickett was ok with Wilson being QB1, but Pickett didn’t want to compete with Fields for QB2.

Depending on your bias, one would say that’s even wimpier act for Pickett to do, or Steelers lied even more about believing in Pickett.

to me, seems like Steelers gave up on Pickett when they kept Rudolph as starter.

It's a business side though that makes sports unique. I don't think they gave up on him, just that it was all clicking and they didn't want him rushing back to get injured again at the end of the season. The team responded well to Mason so they rolled with it.

You can't tell the guys you have under contract that you want to move on, so you frame it as competition. Someone else pops up that you didn't think you'd get and you jump on it. There's more than just Tomlin on those decisions. You can bet Khan probably didn't want Pickett though.

It isn't bias at all. Rudolph when out of his way to make it clear that while he loved his teammates, the feeling wasn't the same toward the front office and coaching staff. I have no problem with him saying it. He thought he deserved a chance to play in 2022 and he didn't get it.

Pickett never mentioned Rudolph in his comment. There was nothing in anything he said that could be considered throwing shade at Rudolph. You made that up.

On your apology thread, I wrote that I hadn't seen you being disrespectful. I hadn't seen this yet. Now I have seen it. When you get to the point that you have to lash out at another poster like you just did, yes, it's probably time for a break. Despite your false claim, you are walking away in defeat, but that is probably a wise choice on your part.

Maybe, but it sure seems like they gave up on him before he asked for a trade. If your read on the situation is correct, and I think it is, they were burying him and he knew it.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any lower the egotistical nimrod still has to get the last word in on a guy who has checked out

Edit: shaking fists at clouds and chasing kids off my lawn is one thing but I have visions of this narcissistic jerk going into funeral homes and arguing with the deceased

If he really is temporarily gone, he will have something to read when he returns.

Thank you for contributing nothing to the discussion but a lame personal attack. It really brightens the place up.

Did anybody else just get a mental image of Barry Horowitz patting himself on the back right before getting his ass kicked again?

By the way, in case you didn't notice, Jack made it personal before he bailed. I respected what he was doing until he pulled that. If you are going to go after someone like that, at least stick around to stand by it.

When you started writing about Pickett's confidence. You don't know what was going on in his head, so you chose to make it up.

I find it humorous that people feel Kenny wasn’t given a fair shot with 24 starts, but claim Mason had his fair shot. I’ve always said Mason wasn’t given a fair shot before this 22 season. I get it, the NFL is just as much a business as a competitive sport, if not more. The past few years teams don’t want to draft a first round QB to sit. They want an immediate impact and are often given a longer leash. I believe that was the case with Kenny. Unfortunately for him Mason playing well after Kenny’s injury appears to be his undoing. Art Rooney II statement “Mason showed us what we are capable of when we have quality play at quarterback!” Was a hint that Kenny may not be the guy.

During summer camp at St. Vincent I saw an interview with Kenny Pickett where the reporter was doing rapid fire questions and said to Kenny about another Pittsburgh sports legend who also wore #8 and asked if he knew who it was? Kenny’s answer was Tommy Maddox. His response gave me a chuckle as the reporter didn’t correct him. In his defense Willie Stargell was before his time.

With respect to the Pickett situation, no one really knows what did or didn’t happen. From a fan perspective, there are two sides to this, and both sides are pointing to pieces of evidence to prove their point. I am not sure either side of the argument can present enough evidence to prove they are right.

We won’t ever know what really happened. The fact that the Steelers moved on from their 1st round pick after two years tells me there is more to the story than what has been revealed.
