I understand that you are bothered by my low tolerance for people using fiction to push their chosen narrative.

We needed him so he could throw to the wrong Jefferson.

FACT: The last day of the 2023 season for the Steelers when the players come in to clear out their lockers, and say goodbye to one another, along with the media, Kenny Picket was not there. Every other team captain was present to speak to the media and their fellow team players except for Kenny Pickett. This is also the day that players say goodbye to their coaches and have exit interviews.

Don't try to say he was there, because it is a fact that has been reported multiple times that Kenny skipped out on this. Every other Captain was there for the team on that last day.

Remember when Watt missed a similar day a few years back? No? People tried to make a big deal out of it, but it was a nothingburger.

Also, something being reported multiple times does not make it a fact. Often that is just one person reporting it and others regurgitating that same report. Take the example of the report that the Steelers had no interest in adding any quarterback who would be a potential starter. It was reported multiple times, but it was really just speculation by Dulac that was picked up and regurgitated by many others.

I have been a big supporter of Kenny but he seems to be a bit of a distraction. If you do not get rid of the cancer it starts to spread and I think that was why they cut ties with him early. He was given an opportunity but didn’t perform well enough to reclaim his starter position and he handled it very immaturely when they stayed with the hot hand. Stating he didn’t really learn anything while on the sidelines was just a dumb response. I have no problem with the Steelers moving on from a non team player.

Kenny stomped his feet the whole way up the stairs to his room muttering " ought to run away"
    slammed his bedroom door
reopened bedroom door and yelled downstairs
    "I HATE LIVING HERE ANYWAY!!!!"
    slam door

There is no evidence that he was a distraction and answering one question in a way people didn't like isn't handling things immaturely. The evidence doesn't support him not being a team player, either. Criticize the way the guy performed. That's fair, but the rest is just nonsense.

The front office doesn’t just give up on a 1st round pick if he wasn’t seen as some sort of distraction. I was a big KP supporter but he didn’t handle his emotions well. Ultimately that got him traded.

Doesn't matter though. He wanted to move on and told them so. The team was hedging their bets with a low cost move. If you felt he could have shown more than Wilson, he stays and shows them he's the better option!

Appreciate the shout out on the name - I have always felt I take a middle of the road approach. I would say the exception to that might be things I am passionate about, like the Steelers, but I still try to keep an even keel.

Do you mean awful stats of Wilson and Fields? I feel like Wilson will be an upgrade if he can at least give us as much production as last year.

I am not necessarily sold that Wilson and Fields are the future franchise QBs; rather, they are a very low risk upgrade over last years train wreck. Best case scenario, we score big and are back on track to being competitive. Worst case, we have a cheap stop gap and are back in the market for our next franchise QB.

FYI. The "Russell Wilson Rule" :) did pass, so the Steelers will have until week 10 to trade Wilson if Fields becomes the starter and they are happy with Kyle Allen as their backup.

No way they only Keep 2 Qbs. When was the last time we only kept 2 Qbs ...not counting since the rules change involving carrying the 3rd.

They would then call up their young kid QB from the Practice Squad to be the Inactive 3rd string QB.

NEW NFL rule allows teams to keep a QB on the practice squad and use him every week as the emergency 3 string QB for 2024. You do not need to waste a 53-man roster spot on your 3rd string QB anymore.
NFL owners approve change to emergency QB rule (msn.com)
Most teams will now only carry 2 QBs on their active roster and 1 on the practice squad.

On the 53-man roster This year 2024. :)

BESt Guess: The year when Ben got hurt and they had just traded Dobbs right before the season started??? I think they had to activate Duck off the practice squad.

That was because of injury, and they did bring in another Qb. What I'm getting at is the Steelers usually keep 3, and with nobody on the team that has ever played Qb on this team before.....I just don't see that changing soon. JMO

I don't think the idea was that they would do it to start the season, but that they might trade Wilson before the deadline if he isn't starting. I'm not sure that would be worthwhile. Maybe if a contender finds itself in a desperate situation due to injury.

IIRC Duck was just resigned to the PS the week before Ben got hurt! Then gets activated 6 days later!
