No its not ....it's pretty basic....Im not arguing , but there is a definite showing of the the team that is on the losing side of the turnover battle....all the way down to JR high.
Yes We definitely needed better than KFP, but Fields is not that Guy....You are trading one guy that may not score a td, but wouldn't turn the ball over, for a guy that will score tds, but will turn the ball over more than He scores.

You aren't getting his point. You also aren't getting that Fields is three years in, not two, so there is less reason to expect improvement.

it's not always about passing TD's. if a qb can get us down the field and we run it in for the TD, so be it. they all count for 6 points. turnovers are killer.

the teams on the losing side of scoring, lose games.

let me rephrase your last sentence: you are trading a guy that CANT score for a guy than MAY turn the ball over.

Is that why Steelers were 28th scoring team in the league last season?

if so, then change is great! Cause they sucked at scoring!!

Bears were 18th in scoring last season. Steelers were 28th.

what am I missing about fields vs pickett?

There is no may about it. Fields does turn it over. He has done that consistently for three seasons.

Maybe an improved offensive line and competent offensive coordinator could have gotten more out of Pickett. I'm not sure they are going to be able to get Fields to take care of the ball.

Go look up fields stats last year, then come back about more turn overs than TDs, and then claim he didn’t improve he didn’t improve. Then explain why you think he will stop improving.

    seriously, look up the stats.

I didn't say he would stop entirely, but the farther a quarterback gets into his career, the less likely he is to improve. Also, how much of that was him playing better and how much was the Bears acquiring a stud receiver for him to throw to when the got DJ Moore?

So, are we agreed he is not a turn over machine? And the rhetoric in this thread of fields being a turn over machine is wrong?

let’s progress one point at a time.

Fields is a turnover machine… 30 ints and 38 fumbles in 3 seasons… end of story… i can understand ints but 38 fumbles?!
My bad , he has a total of 41 turnovers combined in 3 seasons. Kinda still a turnover machine with an awful record. 10-28, but this may be due to his OC and coaches and teammates, certainly not his fault

I don't really have much hope that either of these guys are the long term answer.

I doubt that Fields was even an realistic option until KP bashfully tiptoed into Omar's office and politely asked for a trade, like Oliver asking for more soup.

"Pardon me sir, may I be traded please? Nothing personal, but you sorta fibbed, sir. You kinda led me to believe that I was the messiah, sir. And, because of my ,apparent, complete lack of self awareness and robust narcissism, I figured I was a shoo-in for the starting job. I thought I was doing pretty good, sir. Plus, my hair has been really cool and extra shaggy lately. Now, I'm going to have to be better than somebody else that wants my job? That's not fair, sir. Sorry to make a fuss."

I think you should find out what Fields has, but you shouldn't stop looking to add more guns.

20 TDs, 9 INTs, 3 fumbles in 2023 == very respectable, and shows extreme capability to improve and is definitely NOT a turn over machine. End of story.

Just do the math using the stats you quoted: in his first two seasons, he had 21 INTs and 35 fumbles. then it went to 9 INTs and 3 fumbles in his last season. That's AMAZING improvement! The guy is a freaking learning machine.

I wasnt too thrilled with either Russ or Fields signings, but hey they were cheap. Remember you get what you pay for. As bad as qb room was last year, MT continued his non losing streak. Gonna be funny if his streak ends due to these future franchise wannabes we signed. And apparently we signed Bills back up qb. So I guess we are all in on a qb who hasnt done crap since throwing game ending int in Superbowl about 100 yrs ago and another project in Fields, maybe Fields will do better here with the qb whisperer MT, said noone ever

No sidestep…. Got both qbs for pennies. Rest of league WASNT tripping over each other to sign either of them. Saying this, I hope they ball out and we finally win a playoff game!
